The plane fly past is back on...

to the negative normans - this is funny and light hearted banter which hopefully has added value by helping a charity or two. Get over yourselves and join in.
I am neither for it or against it but the timing, for me, is not perfect.
However, I cannot believe the way TVBC has gone on here. Bloody ridiculous. I bet he didn't sleep for months for fear of what other football folk thought about us after the Mary Poppins banner was draped over the Tyne Bridge.

This is the problem though, whilst I like the idea it'll be two weeks later. In the meanwhile, if we've been beaten by Pardew's Palace and dropped into the relegation area (and they additionally get a draw or even a win down at Liverpool) then the flypast with the banner is going to look ridiculous to be honest and they'll be laughing at us.

Something like this only works at the time or soon after it happens.

I'll add it sounds a great idea in the pub after the match with the beer flowing and piss being taken, which is where I suspect this idea has been hatched.

However, that's where the idea should be left. For the reasons I've already given, let's just leave this one be.

I've not read the whole thread so I'm sure I can't be the first to point this out, but is it not a bit sick to gloat at them using a PLANE, the week after we applauded during the match in remembrance of the people from Newcastle that died in a plane crash?

Knowing our luck, the plane carrying the banner will crash.

That's just it, the Mary Poppins banner was done virtually straight away whilst events were still fairly fresh. For that reason, it worked.

The flypast would be two weeks later when plenty may have happened in the meanwhile and minds focussed elsewhere.

That's an angle I'd not thought of, however, whilst I'm lukewarm on the idea of the plane and banner I don't think even your thickest mag will think we're having a go at the plane crash.

They'll be quick to point that out, conveniently forgetting thwir mackems in the air and ameobi shooting one down song, which given MH17 was shot down, I'd say was far more crass.

No, it's not about the plane, it's about the banner. I think it's a bit of leap to associate the two, even though the Mags no doubt will do.

To be fair after having to explain to my seven year old daughter what "Adam Johnson is going to rape your daughter" meant after a middle-aged woman yelled from an away coach at me and my daughter en-route to the match, I couldn't give a flying fuck how they take it, hopefully it crashes into the stadium whilst the thick witch is there watching them get hammered.

No, the two things aren't in any way linked other than the fact there is a plane involved. Is it a bit sick for them to be planning going on their summer holidays in a plane? I doubt any mags will feel upset because they see a plane in the sky

Were doing it because they were going to be flying a plane over the ground to protest Ashley. Only the cretinous and idiotic would mention that in the same context as this.

A lot of mags want to stop the minutes applause anyway as it really has lost all meaning and sense.

A plane in the sky, no. A plane in the sky that's only there because mackems have hired it... yes, they will.

Remember, they'll always think the worst of us. Just like we always do of them.

Even though this was started after reading that the mags were trying to raise money to hire a plane to fly over the stadium with an Ashley out banner ??

Nah, they were singing about shooting mackems out the air on Sunday. Fuck them!

Only an incredibly stupid mag would think we, who raised a fortune for charities in the wake if the disaster and applauded at st James park, would have deliberately hired a plane to be insensitive. If told were reversed and they were doing it to us I'd be assuming they hired a plane because not many other forms of transport would enable us to see a banner from a stadium

Like I said, I haven't read the whole thread. :)

If the Mags are trying to club together to hire a plane with an "Ashley Out" banner, is it not worth contacting them and seeing if they'd be up for joining the pots of cash together and have "Ashley Out" on one side of the banner and "Five in a row" on the other? :D

Exactly this. They cannit claim about us being disrepectuful when they sing a song about shooting planes out of the sky.

Thats far more disrepectful than us just jumping on their plane banner idea.

If there were to be a plane and banner, surely something more flippant on it would be better than the 5 in a row/ftm-type message. "Super job Mike, keep it up" being spoken by Bud the horse, perhaps

So now we're assuming that because they have some dickhead fans that chant disrespectful songs, that all of them are happy those songs were being sung?

If they're anything like our fans, I'd think that a lot of them would be giving grief to those that sang those songs for showing a complete lack of class that makes the rest of them look bad.
