The Pep myth

But it isn’t fact based.
but the question has a huge element of subjectivity in it...maybe arsenal could have chosen not to build the stadium but win a couple more league titles...but the stadium is better for them long term...
gaurdiola has never had to work at a club with such a dilemma...barcelona are now rebnovating their ground and playing elsewhere and so its the current manager dealing with the issue,

Almost seems to try to out-do himself tactically at times.

Prime example being the Champions League final last year with plenty of reputable sources reporting that no-one inside the club including the players agreed with him nor had any idea why he chose to set up the way he did.

Both sides of Pep on show tonight.

A genius move to bring Doku on for Grealish which resulted in the equaliser and really pushed things on for City, despite Grealish playing very well.

Then with only 8 minutes of ET to go, he takes off his two best penalty takers.

No doubting how good he is obviously, but time and time again he makes a bonkers decision at crunch time in the CL that doesn't pay off.

Tonight, the CL final vs Chelsea, the semi-final vs Madrid in 21/22, and 3 semi-finals at Bayern all fit the bill.

Again, obviously a superb manager, but it's absolutely fair to critique his tactical decisions in the latter stages of the CL IMO.

Said for a long time, given the players, clubs and money at his disposal the blokes arguably underachieved more than being this new standard setting greatest manager ever

The Doku change should have been done at half time. Grealish generally slows things down and cuts back inside.

Match thread littered with comments saying Grealish was excellent and shouldn't have been taken off. Doku was also getting slated. Didn't watch the 90 myself mind.
