The Pep myth

Be interesting to see who City get after Pep (now knowing they need to find another bloke who only goes to jobs where cheating occurs and will happily go along with it. Presumably it"ll be someone who has managed Barca since).
Basically just don't want a grass because anybody can do the football side. Mick McCarthy would do similar according to somebody on here last night. So coaching ability doesn't matter, just as long as they aren't a blabbermouth.
To be fair, he did nothing at Bayern that wasn't automatically expected of a Bayern manager. He won the league (which everyone does) got nowhere near the CL - despite inheriting a squad that were current CL winners, who won it again within 3 or 4 years of him leaving.

2 CL titles for Bayern between 2013 and 2020, and he managed them for 3 years in between.
Aye mate. Bloke's a fraud.

.
Is that what I said, or did you just make that up?...

pep - 14 seasons, 11 league titles, 10 domestic cups, 3 champions leagues, 3 world club cups, 3 European super cups, 5 domestic shields/super cups.
35 bits of silverware in 14 seasons.

Wenger 34 years in management 4 league titles, 9 cups, 8 domestic super cup/shield, Japanese league manager of the year 1995
It's close but the Japanese honour means he just edges it.

A little bit of both
What I actually said - literally - was that he did nothing at Bayern that was above the minimum expectation of any Bayern manager - and he spent massive money turning a CL-winning squad, into one that couldn't. That has to be factored into lists of achievements.

You can't just list trophies manager-to-manager as though it's a completely straight comparison. The baselines are very different as is the spending power.

will probably be arteta...he has a lot oin common with Pep and the powerbrokers at City...

gaurdiola is over rated because his record is flattered by the cheating and doping at the two clubs he was successful at..he went to one club where the cheating and doping didnt happen and didnt succeed..

Clubs hire him because he can keep his mouth shut about the cheating and doping..so for cultural reasons not ability reasons..
What club did he go to and not achieve?

bayern....ingeirted a champions league winning team..spent big..didnt win champs league..left..
next guy won the champions league..
He won 7 comps in 3 years including winning the league 3 times while breaking all sorts of records. Bayern where not nearly as dominant as they are now either by the way and the next guy didn’t win the champions league either

He won a 1-horse race 3 times. Dortmund were much stronger when Heynckes and Van Gaal were Bayern managers (before Bayern started hoovering up Dortmund's best players), than when Guardiola was. IIRC Bayern made 3 CL finals in 4 years before Guardiola arrived (winning it - and winning the treble) 3 months before he took over, never got close to making a CL final under Pep.

Jupp Heynckes was a vastly better manager for Bayern than Pep. Heynckes took over a Bayern side that were beaten to a League and Cup double by Dortmund, and turned them into treble winners, making back-to-back CL finals. He retired, Pep took over, started playing Lahm in midfield, played Alaba all over the shop, Neuer up front etc and they got mauled every year in the CL.

Did a great job at Barca, a reasonable job at Bayern, and a great job at City. With almost limitless funds and power in all posts
