That's my big question, like. He's nowhere near the genius that Brian Clough was IMHO.

Jury still out though on one of the greatest coaches ever.
I would argue domestic titles are harder to win that cups, others may disagree. Pep has won a lot of titles in his career as a manager
City finished 4th in the league and semi finals of the CL the season before he took over
Bayern had won the title by 25 points the season before he took over
Barcelona finished third in the league and semi-finals of CL the season before he took over
Clubs were hardly up sh*t creek when he took over, but he certainly changed the way they play for the better. I think Fergie will always edge it until maybe Pep takes over a club more in the doldrums to be able to give a fair comparison,

You've hit the nail on the head. He has managed only already-succesful clubs, with a mega budget.
It would be interesting to see him manage a mid table side like Palace to see what he does, albeit never going to happen.
Klopp took 3 years to win anything with Liverpool and that was only after he signed VVD and Alisson (remember Karius CL howlers the season before)

If it’s easy to do what he’s done with an “unlimited budget” why didn’t Mancini and Pellegrini dominate in the same way.

Not sure like. Guardiola has won 11 out 14 league titles he's competed for. Just don't see Mick McCarthy doing that with Barcelona, Bayern and Man City.
