The mags are claiming Durham CC now

This forum living in a dream world. Said for ages County Durham is majority mag, and chester le street is 90% mag. Got laughed at on here. Now the Durham cricket teams singing mag songs. One day people will realise that Durham is a mag stronghold.
What % of mags is shields, genuine question here?

I would have thought more mags in shield's than Durham?

We are so lucky to be so close to such a well-known and humble football club following. I still dont understand though because surely they have their own county team - Northumberland?
Think we should claim it and pretend people from there are Mackems....as much sense as 2 posters on here saying people from Durham are geordies.....

I was born in Newbiggin, most of those from there, Ashington, Blyth, Bedlington etc. have claimed to be georgies long before Hall went over to Newcastle.

People from Ashington are pitmatic, similar to their Durham counterparts down in the pits.

I'd say the border personally for Geordie is the River Blyth, anywhere South is Geordie, anything North isn't. Most people from those areas would've likely been born at Rake Lane.

Well someone on this forum is in a dreamworld.

F*cking hell, first music and now this :o
As far as I am aware, Durham CCC's MLF contingent includes Matty Potts, Ben Raine, Chris Rushworth and Brydon Carse.

And importantly club captain Scott Borthwick.

Rushy has left for Warwickshire though, unfortunately.
I was at the cricket on Sunday and never saw one Mag badge. A lot of SAFC shirts and hats and 4 blokes behind me were talking about how good Saturday has been, us winning and Mags getting beat.
I had a walk around the ground at lunch interval and thought I’d look at different viewpoints from other seats. At one place, one bloke was talking to his mates then saw someone else and asked if he’d enjoyed the football on Saturday. They all had a good laugh and agreed they had.

This is my opinion of it too. There’s always been more of a red and white flavour to DCCC than black and white.

You can never simply count shirts on show I order to gauge popularity and just assume though - because as we know the mags are far more likely to wear their colours unashamedly and inappropriately in so many places that MLF’s would be much more sensibly dressed ;).
And, iirc, the majority of fans didn't join in. Think it was Mark Stoneman who chose it when he was captain.

No he didn’t, they’ve been singing it long before he was captain - right back before when MLF Colly was skipper too.
This shite needs binning off asap ffs.

It’s going nowhere thankfully and I for one hope I hear the lads singing it as many times next season as I have this season.

The only people who get upset about it are clearly very insecure about who they are and where they come from.

i agree, im from a north west durham mag stronghold, the CC is majority Black and White too, but vast majority of the folk who are Durham members or go to games are R&W

Now you mention it, I think it was an interview with Colly who said the captain gets to choose the song and MS chose that. Either he was telling the truth or passing the buck. Doesn't really matter as long as it keeps up squad morale.
