The Hundred 2023

Gave it 5 mins then realised some actual cricket is on bt sport. Hundred is actually horrific but its made worse coming off the back of such a good ashes series

It is just more or less same cricket as the blast with similar players (slightly better)

Some games will be good some will be bad just like any short format cricket tournament
I can't handle the shitty kits with a variety of crisp for each team, the stupid way they show the scores on the screen. Why they feel the need to do away with overs as well. It's very much not for me and there's enough short format stuff around already

Seen as the pick the best players from the blast from 18 teams and put them into 8 teams and the others play in the one day cup that first statement makes no logical sense at all.

Beat me to it just!

It makes sense when you're speaking theoretically.
And if it's more or less the same cricket then it's a superfluous competition.

All that fair enough mate if the rest of the sideshow not your cup of tea, I get that.

And would much prefer overs myself.

But the actual cricket where bowlers bowl at batsman from 22 yards is more or less the same as other short format stuff it’s only 20 balls different.

It’s played by more of less the same players, this notion that blast great standard and the hundred isn’t is nonsense and makes no sense at all.

Totally agree said all long should just have one completion two one too many

They haven’t really done away with overs. They essentially play twenty five ball overs. But then they decide to call them something else. And they decide to make the rules about when a bowler can bowl consecutive ones more complicated than in normal cricket. And the rules about changing ends more complicated than normal cricket.

It’s one of the more extreme examples of making it more complicated instead of simpler. If you must do 100 balls, call it 20x5 overs. Play it as 20x5 overs. It would be easier to understand for those who are current cricket fans AND those who have a very slight vestigial awareness of cricket (so have probably vaguely heard of overs at some time) AND newcomers.

Instead they’ve chosen a way that’s more confusing for all three groups of potential fans. Quite an achievement.

Good game, the ball to get Jordan out was a peach. Crowd very lively, great to see, takes the edge of the Test matches finishing.
