The Hundred 2023

Lizelle Lee having a hard time behind the stumps only 5 balls in, i know theres been a lot of talk over the fitness of her & Van Nierkirk but she's doesnt look like a professional athlete
 

now i know some will hate it, but i quite like the dumbed down commentary so far explaining the terminology, as to not alienate people

The plans to even in some way involve our part of northern England were removed when they scrapped the womens games originally scheduled for Gosforth.

But the main reason is that this is the thin end of the wedge. There are some in the higher echelons of the game who wish to reduce the size of competitions and by definition the number of teams competing. I think that if we get to that stage, Durham will inevitably be a casualty. The more established teams eg, wouldn’t have to travel to the frozen north. We have already seen an example of Surrey’s attitude 2 seasons ago.

With the greatest of respect to those who say that they like/support the hundred, I think that they do not understand this, or are closing their minds to it, or maybe do not care about the future of our beloved Durham.

And even if the hundred is scrapped, it will inevitably be replaced by another franchise competition which I expect Durham won’t be part of. Different route, same outcome.

I appreciate that all of the above has been said before. I just wanted to highlight it again so perhaps the supporters of the competition might think about this again and examine their collective consciences. By supporting this, you may well be complicit in the demise of our club. Just give that some thought please.

And to any Durham supporter who is putting money into this competition, you are a traitor. Simple as that. Franchise cricket will be the death of county cricket and as @mosi has so eloquently put it - Durham will be one of the first causalities. The likeminded among us have known this from the start.

in a round about way of course they are, they are putting their name too it, drawing ticket sales promoting what you consider to be a nail in their own coffin

So what? That’ll still leave 8 fantastic counties, their loyal supporters and their talented players outside in the cold.

This abomination must fail. If it succeeds it will be the death of county cricket.
