The GTA series

Saw this video on the making of GTA 1 today, pretty interesting if you like that kind of stuff. Amazing to think that it's become pretty much the biggest game franchise of them all now.

I liked the mission where you retake the mansion, parachuting in.

That's where I got stuck, got thru' the house chasing some gangsta who would speed off in a car, which you had to chase & I would lose the car after a very short while. Made more annoying by having to start all over again before the airport in "Vegas". There was probably one tiny thing I didn't quite do right.

I didn't think 4 was all that bad me. Niko was shite but the game was canny I thought. Mind it weren't as good as Vice City or San Andreas

I decided to play through GTA4 again before getting the new one but I'm starting to realise why I never finished it in the first place; utterly awful combat controls and too many phone calls asking you to go bowling. I'd happily molotov people in real life for pestering me to go bowling so I certainly don't want to do it on my telly.

I bought GTA 3 when it came out in 2001 and I was hooked for nearly a year. The fact that you could just walk around a big living city punching and shooting anyone you wanted was a joy to behold.

Vice City was class like but I don't think it was a massive step up from GTA3. The music and setting were better but it wasn't much different gameplay wise.

San Andreas was the best game I've ever played on like. Final year at Uni getting stoned and going to the casino in Las Venturas most nights.

GTA 4 was a big disappointment. A half arsed effort.

Agree with most of this, wouldn't say 4 was a half effort though. They put a massive amount of effort it, just a shame a lot of the features were tedious as fuck.

The good thing about these games was that you could just do random things outside the storyline. It was good to get a bazooka and blast things from afar to get your wanted level up to max then try and steal a tank when the army showed up. Managed to get in the tank once but most attempts ended in a drubbing.

Can't wait to have a crack at the new one.

Never got into San Andreas like. Loved GTA3 and Vice City though. Will probably buy the new one at some point, bit skint at the minute though.

In anticipation for the release of GTA 5 tonight i'd thought i'd start a thread on the whole series in general.

Sureley the greatest game of all time.

GTA Vice city takes some beating. Lance Vance Dance.

The original one on the pc was the best, birds eye view, looked class when I got a 4mb 3dx card.
