Aye all the bags are from the docks that ive seen. Its the only place that fishes.Seen a few very good bags on Facebook this morning.
I'm wondering if the recent mass death of crabs up and down the north east coast will have any effect, as thats a lot of feed gone for the Codling.
“Oh no - I love it”I don't like fishing

The closest I have come to a red gurnard is eating one! It was in Polperro I recall.Lad near us in Spain got an 11lb 1oz gurnard a few weeks ago . It was witnessed by the competition people but he didn't get the record 'he'd eaten it . The record still stands at 10lb odd .

I’ve made mackerel feathers with the skinWe used to get them off the south pier 60 years ago .
Caught an octopus off the end of Roker pier one summer. The legs all out it was bigger than a bin lid.Whats the funniest thing anyone has ever hooked?
Mine? I was fishing down the lane at Sunderland docks one night (when it was open to the public). Those who know of it know theres an 8 ft concrete wall behind you, and where you fish is only 6ft wide, so you end up putting your gear over the wall to cast out. You have to watch out though, as people walk behind the wall.
Anyway, I put my gear over the wall and cast out. As the lead went sailing out, I notice something red flapping about on the end of my hook length. As I started to reel it back in, a bloke appeared looking for his woolen bobble hat, just as I reeled it up the dock wall dripping wet.
I saw one a bit smaller than that caught off the south pier .I’ve made mackerel feathers with the skin

Aye, I've had a few bats . You get a shock when suddenly your line stops coming back .I once caught a bat fly fishing for sea trout, at night, in Scotland. It took the fly on my back cast and smacked me on the back of the head onthe forward cast. Frightened the life out of me but we both survived once I'd untangled it.
You can go fishing and catch bats??!I saw one a bit smaller than that caught off the south pier .

Makes sense when you think about it. Is it primarily a night time pursuit or do you catch them during the day as well?It happens when you're fly fishing . Bats eat flies .
It tends to happen at dusk . It actually gets a bit annoying as it sometimes creates a mess .Makes sense when you think about it. Is it primarily a night time pursuit or do you catch them during the day as well?
