Piscatorial heaven right there. It is indeed sir 10/10 for piscine ID![]()
Looks a lovely spot mate. I’ve not been out for four weeks now.Just had 7 perch from a backwater off the Thames maggot, none over a pound, nice to sit and just watch the float. Did a few hours of lure fishing yesterday, nowt, but I did get two separate pike following lures.Logon or register to see this image
The Glass Centre would be the easiest place for you, this time of year is dodgy weather wise so you could find Roker shut.So gotta take me little nephew fishing, ain’t been myself for at least a decade so will dust off the rodders and see if the wire thingy still works!!
The Bairn been bought a starter rod and kit for his birthday, so recommendations as where to start, Roker pier? North pier or out by the glass centre.
Conscious he will be there 20 minutes then will be bored, want a piss and a bag of chips and a play on some swings or summat!!

You could also look up the river. I used to take the kids fishing beside the Golden Lion, just fish it the last 2 hours of the incoming tide. Plenty of small flatties up there, and crabs to stop him getting bored.
Drop me a PM if you need anymore info
They're big tides next week, so best go down a couple of hours into the flood.Super thanks, the GC is only a two minute walk for me, he’s know it too as that where he goes crab fishing with his wee net.
I’m thinking of next satda morning so tide would be out around 9:30/10. You reckon is toils still be worthwhile for bites or will I just be throwing worms into the river, not fussed if we don’t catch out but I would at least like him see his rod wiggle!!
Also Rutherford still do rag/lug?
Ta for the help![]()
If you are going in the river try smaller hooks 4/0s and if you can get it crab bait.So gotta take me little nephew fishing, ain’t been myself for at least a decade so will dust off the rodders and see if the wire thingy still works!!

That’s if you are based in Sunderland.
The walkway in South Shields offers close parking and comfortable fishing but the tide can rip through and there are a lot of snags.
Normally I would say fish the piers Roker or Shields but if he is likely to be bored sharpish it will save you a walk.
Good look and I hope he catches something.
Between the lion and the bridge is a good spot, mudflats, fewer snags and the flounder feed on the tiny rag there. You could also look up the river. I used to take the kids fishing beside the Golden Lion, just fish it the allast 2 hours of the incoming tide. Plenty of small flatties up there,
What ya got?Just bought a fly fishing setup. Mid-life crisis I guess.
Aye, got all of them. What ya got?
Rod?
Reel?
Flyline?
So where are you going fishing?Aye, got all of them.
Lakes and ponds and rivers and that.So where are you going fishing?
At the end of each season I tie flies and every year I have a clear out of last year's flies (mostly unused) PM me your address I'll send you a box with a few dozen to get you started, they are mostly Brown trout flies and a few for Rainbows, if you are starting fly fishing then go and get a casting lesson from an instructor, it's the one thing I regret not doing and now I'm stuck with all my bad habits.Lakes and ponds and rivers and that.
