The emotional thread...

Once wise men say goes up I just well up can’t stop it love my fans love my club Sunderland till I die
Same. The song always gets to me, but today, the emotions got a hold of not just me, but a few around me as well.

Sang loud and proud.

Woke up this morning slightly hung over, thankfully it was real, yesterday wasn't a dream (Jesus Christ man we're in the Europa cup having finished 7th in our first season back in the Premier League 😯 🤣😎🤩⭐🥳).

I’ve waited a bit over fifty years for this. But never ever in any dream I had could I have written the script of the last two years. The fans of this club have come through thick and thin and thin and thin and now here we are. Undisputed number 1 club in the NE, Europa league, 7th in the Prem. ‘til the end indeed … so lucky to see this happen HTL FTM STID
Hans Christien Anderson never wrote write fairy tales like SAFC do them👨‍🎨🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛🐈‍⬛

At the full time whistle and (mainly) when it was confirmed that we had qualified for the Europa League, I will, without any sense of shame, say that I totally teared up.
Not bawling….but I filled up and a couple of tears did escape and run down down my cheeks. 🥲

I’m a big old fucker and I was at Wembley in 73 and saw the home games v Vasas and Sporting Lisbon…..but this is different gravy.

I've taken my son and nephew along to the match since League One. They both got right into it.

After promotion from League One to the Championship I told them it would be harder and they shouldn't get disappointed if we didn't win as often. That season we made the playoffs.

Then after another successful trip to Wembley l told them it would be harder in the Premier League and they shouldn't get disappointed if we didn't win as often. Then not only do we only go into the last day with something positive to play for, but we actually go and do it.

Eight year they've always been positive and excited to get to the match, while those of us who've been there before have been more pessimistic. Who am I to try and tell them what next season will have in store. Something we can all look forward to.

As if 09 just played the entirety of a premier league game for us, against the world club champions, providing an assist and helping us qualify for the europa league and finish in the joint highest position in the premier league that the club have ever finished in…..

f***ing LUKE!!!!! I love you lad!!!!!
That assist was magical as well. Some of his passing also, beautiful. His interview afterward, again exceptional, well done young man, well done.
