It's not all about population size, it's about government response efforts too.
China's strict quarantine did contain the virus rapidly.
It's also a fact of Italy having a higher elderly population than China.
There are lots of variables in play and not everything comes down to "China are faking the numbers".
It's not at all. You're putting a western baconised perception on it. There's a reason why both Judaism and Islam prohibit eating pigs.

Have you seen the measures they've taken to contain the virus?
It's difficult to imagine they can sustain it indefinitely which could lead to further, more deadly waves but it's ridiculous to compare their death rates to those in the West who did very little to stop the spread.

I'm not saying that eating bats isn't daft, I'm saying that eating pigs is also daft. TBH, of the three mammals we mainly eat (cow, sheep, pig), there's only really the cow that we should be eating from animals raised in this country. Sheep farming has killed the environment of much of the UK. (although not as much as land management for hunting/shooting purposes in Scotland has)

Pigs do carry Coronavirus. Lots of mammals and reptiles do.
