The Athletic: Brentford want Jobe

Agree. What's the hurry ? Whatever he's worth now, he'll be worth more in another year. He's a young lad learning the game who has massive family incentive to improve his game, providing he isn't disheartened by negative social media comments.
Some seem to think everyone other than Clarke is shite.

I think he'd probably benefit from the step up tbh.

He'll get better with a better team around him. The obvious gaps in our team has seen him having to shuffle positions, someimes mid-game, which is no good for a lad trying to nail down a role. He'll also gain from not starting every week and having better players around him.

Too much is asked of him here when he's just turned 18. The need to play him every game has increased the pressure on him, and I'd say stuttered his development. I think some of that pressure gets taken away once he's out of limelight. Also, 10m isn't much for a Prem League club who will see that lad as an investment.

its a gamble/risk that any premier league club would be completely stupid to take at this moment in time.

he's not ready for premier league football, he's nowhere near ready for premier league football. even 10 mins here and there would be a pointless risk, unless the team was 3-0 up every week and could take the risk. he's offered practically nothing to say he could handle premier league football. no more than Rigg has, or Hume, Ballard, Ba, etc...

i think another year with SAFC, playing regularly at this level is exactly what he needs. to be honest, i'd be disappointed if come the first game of the season he was in our best-11. and thats a mid table championship team. why on earth would a premier league team take a chance on him at this moment in time

If he goes on to smash it next season he suddenly costs a lot more?

You could say that about any 18 year old player

I like the lad, but at this moment in time he hasn't shown anything more than dozens of other 18 year olds who have played at this level.

For an 18 year old, he's done alright. I think he'll improve next season if he can make decisions quicker and move himself and the ball around quicker, and maybe this time next year people will look at him and say 'he could make the step up now' . Like Wharton did with Blackburn, where by the end he was playing well almost every game.

He had like. He has had way too much responsibility for his age and it's another club who will reap the benefit.

Would ask for at least 15. If he has a great season next year could easily ask for 20 million. Think his best position could be the 10 role if we get some target man up top?

How many other 18 year old midfielders can you name who have scored 7 goals in their first full senior Championship season?

i'm thinking that the people who use his name as a reason he's more highly though of than he should be, are using his name as a reason to slate him, thinking he should be better than he is so get rid of him. He's a good player who should be allowed to flourish with us if you ask me.

You couldn't. I'm sure he'll improve next season.

in talks with Palace already, he's going that's for sure. Great move for him but shit for us....we are so shit these days
So if you had to pick one of Bellingham, Ballard, Neil and Clarke to go, who would it be? Bellingham every time for me. That’s not to say all 4 won’t be sold, but would be more gutted about the other 3. Would be more gutted if Hume left too.

none, the team should be built around these players, can't trust our lot to invest wisely can we,

We certainly can’t, I just worry about financial implosion if we go down again. Keeping the others gives us more of a chance of competing IMO. Jobe is a bit of luxury player to an extent.

Jobe will suddenly turn into a very good player, our luck it will be next season for Palace

I'm not a scout mate. Clearly he has some good attributes. Maybe the thinking is that 10m turns into 20/25m in another seasons time with yet more clubs interested.

Premier League clubs won't be buying him to rely on him like we have this season, he'll not be a guaranteed starter at any of those clubs mentioned, but he'll learn from playing with better players and actually finding a position to make his own instead of being shoe'd in like he is here. Again, it'll be an investment for them.

Better players around him and a lot less pressure. Two things that he won't get here.

Plus, I reckon we only bought him to flog on for a quick profit whilst we could use the Speakman/Dodds link.
