Shearers record was excellent at Blackburn, but it could be argued he only had 4 good seasons out of 10 at Newcastle. And also for such a prolific domestic player his goals per game record for England was poor. Not saying he was crap for England but he should have been better than people like Peter crouch.

Went almost 2 years without an England goal between 94-96
 
222m for ‘When Shearer was banging them in for England (someone on here) was stood in the Chesters with hundreds of mackems shouting Shearer , Shearer’

They must’ve all agreed on his worth!
 
Can’t stand the arrogant toss pot but as a footballer he is was outstanding and probably the best premiership player.

I think you are missing the point. 15m in 1996 is not 222m today just using regular inflation but it is when premier league revenue growth is used.

Just shows how much they were spending back then when measured in today's terms. Save goes for Boro who in 1997 spent the equivalent of 177m on Gazza etc.
