Root and Swann to spin us to victory on Saturday teatime

Cook
Root
Trott
Pietersen
Bell
Bairstow
Prior
Broad
Swann
Finn
Anderson

Confirmed that Agar makes his debut, so he can't turn out for Henley in the Western Counties League.......

England - AN Cook*, JM Anderson, JM Bairstow, IR Bell, SCJ Broad, ST Finn, KP Pietersen, MJ Prior†, JE Root, GP Swann, IJL Trott

Convicts - MJ Clarke*, BJ Haddin†, AC Agar, EJM Cowan, PJ Hughes, JL Pattinson, CJL Rogers, PM Siddle, SPD Smith, MA Starc, SR Watson

All positives thus far - England picking their best XI (Finn over Bresnan is a pleasant surprise), Winning the toss (and thus having Swann in the waiting for the 4th innings) and Australia still trying to work out their best team.

Looking forward to seeing this Aussie seam attack as I havent seen too much of them.

Big pressure on Root.

Lets hope Root can turn it on first thing, if England can get 350+ then I think it's out of the Aussies' reach. I'm working all day today though so going to miss watching it, are the highlights on anywhere tonight?

Should we have gone with 2 spinners?

Nah, even though the pitch is dry I think Swann and the likes of Andersons ability to reverse it will do.

The highlights are on several times on sky and Id imagine Ch5 will have their usual 1 hour slot around 7pm.

Cook said Finn was picked because he bowled well against Essex.......

He took 3 wickets in two innings. Onions got 5. Go figure

Fuck them anyway, we all know Durham > England.

Was just going to ask how anyone could criticise Trott but then he revealed his tragic taste in music

Agar the orrible (selection)

He will get a 5fer now

Regardless, Finn is better than Onions.
