Texas numbers continue to fall after reopening

So how much longer are the government, their laughable "sciences" and the media going to ignore the fact that several major US states have fully reopened, and everything is absolutely fine?

Which government ? Massive states like Texas have no relevance to the Uk. People aren’t living on top of each other like here . The corner shop can be a 5 mile drive away . The weather is totally different , a lot of socialising , eating out out , drinking etc is done al fresco.

So if there are cases in Houston or Dallas the cases won't spread because the rest of Texas is sparsely populated? I'm not sure I understand?

Think Florida is open and thriving, DeSantis seems to have done a very good job there compared to the polar opposite of Cuomo in NY and Whitmer in Michigan.

Almost 200 million vaccines may have helped
I'm sure they have (although not according to Boris' latest pronouncements - he reckons the fall in cases is entirely due to lockdowns not vaccines).

But since we are ahead of the states in terms of vaccine rollout and Florida, Texas and elsewhere have reopened safely, there's no reason we can't here other than the fact that the government is wedded to its lockdown policy and it's main priority is to make sure that the narrative is that this was the right policy all along.

Define a safe re-opening then.
