...................Patterson.................
Gooch....?????......Batth...Cirkin
...............Evans......O'Nien..........
Embleton.....Roberts...Pritchard
......................Stewart.................

Subs: Hume, Huggins, Winchester, Matete, Neil, Dajaku, Diamond

Coming together nicely still need at least 2 centre backs, 2 forwards, a GK & another 2 wingers/attacking midfielders imo
Gooch at right back ? He can cover there but shouldn’t be a starter.

Embleton and Pritchard wife? Both have proven they’re more effective through the middle.

Roberts through the middle when he’s shown he’s more effective out wide.

I'm sure the 3 behind Stewart would rotate during a game....But that's just how it stands atm...Let's see who we bring in

I think City will already have decided that he will be sold on sometime soon. They can afford the best defenders in the world so a player has to be Foden quality to break through the ranks.
He’s a centre half. They tend to break through later than forwards/midfielders. I’d be very surprised if they sold him this summer.

I think about 12th to 14th with current squad if we add two quality centre half’s and a right back.

Love our philosophy to buy players under 26 look to develop the squad and challenge for promotion in two years time.

The biggest plus for me is the benefit of a full preseason with AN. As a coach he is not well known for putting a lot of prep work in two formation frameworks as the base for his tactical plans throughout the season. The improvement we saw in our organisation was largely done on the fly in a busy part of the season with 2 games a week, so probably one session a week at a good intensity. So I’m looking forward to the additional detail he can insert into the squad.

The adage of the whole being greater than the sum of its individual part is hopefully going to be true, purely to the work done in preseason.

I don’t believe the club will spend on fees. I do believe 5 loans will come in, maybe with an option to buy. And at best we could bring in a couple of out of contract players.
Obviously we wont spend big but we will certainly buy a player or 2

Patterson, New signing

Winchester, Huggins

Two new signings, Batth, Wright,

Cirkin

O’Nien/Hume, Evans, Matete, Neil, Embleton/New signing

Roberts, Pritchard

New signing, Stewart, Gooch, Dajaku/Diamond

Five signings minimum, including Wright if he chooses to stay.

I don’t think they’ll have made their decision on him yet, I think they’ll be aiming to have a PL loan for him by the age of 20/21 and then take a view after he’s had a season in the top flight under his belt.

No hard and fast decision, but he's already down the pecking order behind Mbete who's a left sided centre half of the same age - but with more first team exposure for City and a fresh new contract in his hands. If I had to guess, I'd say that Doyle will be gone from City within 2 years. They've just binned off Egan-Riley and have others floating around. And for him to even have a chance to cling on presupposes that they don't just go out and spend big money on a permanent player.

What’s coming together,?Three or four re signings,we need to get a move on to get players in . Last seasons squad won’t be challenging this season many many have said that. Hope I’m wrong but I doubt if any big quality players will be brought in as I’m hearing again there’s no money. The manager wants to add but the owners and Speakman want to give exsisting players a chance, somethings never change !

if we were that skint I reckon Neil would be off

The whole of the championship will be fighting for the same loans from the premier league, when that sorts itself out then a few fees will start getting lashed out.

But it will be loans and frees first.

Well he is certainly not going to play for the City first team this coming season so is likely to be going on loan somewhere. Is he ready for the Championship? At times he looked great in League 1 but at other times he looked out of his depth.

Content to let AN decide 😉
I would play him as a defensive midfield player, his lack of pace will be exposed at CH

GK - New Signing (More experience)
GK - Patterson
RB - Gooch
RB - Hume
LB - Cirkin
LB - Huggins
RB/LB - New Signing Required (experienced cover)
CB - Batth
CB - New Signing (Wright?)
CB - New Signing (Sanderson?)
CB - New Signing (Doyle?)
CM - O’Nein
CM - Evans
CM - Matete
CM - Neil/Winchester
CAM - Pritchard

RW - Roberts
RW - Dajaku
LW - New Signing (Clarke?)
LW - Diamond (??)
ST - Stewart
ST - New Signing (Broadhead??)

Neil plays 4-3-3
2 players for each position
I like the thought of keeping the young promotion squad together but we need real quality new signings if we can’t get past loanees back, especially at CB and LW

If we sign broadhead and Clarke it will be more or less the same squad as last season. Which imo we will struggle with in the championship. We desperately need more quality before the season starts
How many points per game did that squad get once under Alecs tuition?

Doyle isn’t a good enough defender for Div 1, so wouldn’t sign him, we just need to stay in the Championship this year, that’s the priority, as in about the last 5 years one of the 3 promoted have gone back down.
I said before wouldn’t have signed Robert’s either unpopular as that might be, people going crazy over him, as he had half decent game in the play off final against an old man who’s slower than me and I am nearly 60, he’s now been released by Wycombe L/b Jacobsen, but Robert’s not got enough imo for the Championship.

Not until some club comes for him. SAFC Head Coach pays a lot more than job seeker's allowance.

It is difficult to know which players will be able to make the step up. However, signing half a dozen players with solid Championship (or Premiership) experience would help steady the ship. In our present situation I am not keen on recruiting from L1/L2 even if they are believed to have potential. We have enough untried and untested already.
