Takeover Rumours

These people have massive plans for our club. They want to build a theme park on Sheepfold's site, as part of the 'Matchday experience' . Also they weren't impressed by size of our club shop, want to build a huge Megastore. Also, one of the investors admitted on Saturday they don't know much about football. Into, American football but they were asking alot of questions about positions on the pitch and trying to get in as much info as possible about football. I got told today one them is worth 14 billion alone  Also, did that Dell is involved in some capacity.
Really? Im really keen for both the development of both Sheepfolds/Vaux sites and hopefully a link (footbridge) between the two, but is a theme park really the way to go?

You'd have to ask Rafa, he knaas all about visions and projects and that.

reaching the PL is the goal of many but as we was, you can spend £1/4Bn and still remain cannon fodder. many team run at losses, so im struggling to see how these guys ( who seem to have a knack from getting ROI, who have no real experience of football) are gonna succeed where many others have failed. Especially which and 'unfashionable' club sited miles way from the player magnet of London.

Literally just been told there mate off lad i know who has a box at Sol and his own business. That's what he got told Saturday. Also, lad asked Methven when is he going to get his box wallpapered cos it got none on, Methven replied " listen, when this deal goes through, i will paper it with £50 notes, they are that rich".
@SPUFF
There’s your answer marra

TV money aside, because of our fan base we’ve got one of the largest revenue streams in England, no debt, newish stadium, academy and training ground, Netflix is effectively free advertising and we’re cheap as fuck. Asking price for the mags is about £200-£300m. Can buy us for about £50m and save yourself a few hundred million for buying the players to get us to that level. I’m amazed it’s taken this long tbh

its gonna be very interesting but what i'm hoping to see if real evidence of a coherent strategy... current ownership have done a job of fixing many of shorts chaos but even they know that they've taken us as far as they can, why are these guys thinking they know how to move us onto the next level(s).

i'm not nitpicking or owt ... just stunned that were are in this position

why are they buying us?
i know there are a lot of predictable emotionally driven answers you could give, by set those aside
what are the practical goals of buying SAFC?
When Newcastle were linked with takeovers it was all about how nobody with great wealth would come to north east, nothing here for them etc etc.

Seems people can find a million reasons why rich tycoons would come to north east when its Sunderland ;)

Timing is an important factor in play here, we are in the third division, USD is high against GBP. They will make money on this purchase once the uncertainty surrounding Brexit has been removed. We could be talking a 25% swing on the currency alone. Compound that with moving up the leagues and you can see the logic. The political motivations behind the whole thing is a different matter entirely.

I really don’t see their motivations in this being financial. They will have multiple options on a daily basis that are bigger games and better profits than investing in a football club.

I think this is some ultra rich blokes who are massively competitive by nature fancy a go at winning some of the biggest prizes in world sport starting from a difficult position.
The sums involved are relatively irrelevant to them - as difficult as that is to grasp

I'm pretty confident that Stewart and Charlie will have checked their intentions with respect to such matters.

I think the answer is in the middle somewhere. They are not going to do a Man City in my opinion and the talk of their combined wealth is probably slightly irrelevant.
They will as a first stage ensure we have enough funding to get a foot hold in championship when we eventually go up as ) that's clearly a fundamental element of why SD was looking for investment and b) being in championship represents an increase in club value.

I’m an optimist by nature so take this in that context - these are not the kind of people to get involved in something to be also rans.
You don’t get to that level of wealth without stellar levels of drive, ambition and competitiveness - it’s going to be amazing

Real life championship manager?

Their aim is to buy “mispriced” or distressed assets then through long term investment realises higher returns than on “regular” investments.

The only way they’d get those higher returns is through promotion eventually to the Premier League. If that happens then happy days.

The opportunity to build something lasting. To buy us now and get into the PL will most likely cost less in total than Ashley's asking price for Newcastle. These investors are rich enough not to need to worry about making much return - the impression given is that they want to build something they'll be remembered for.
There seems to be a figure of 100 million being banded about saying this is what it will cost to get us to the premiership. In reality this could be done much cheaper, its down to the quality of the scouting team and the manager for me. The big bucks will be spent in the premiership i think. 40 mill for a football club virtually debt free ,well managed and the size of Sunderland AFC its a snip for a group of billionaires.
