why are they buying us?
i know there are a lot of predictable emotionally driven answers you could give, by set those aside
what are the practical goals of buying SAFC?

Literally just been told there mate off lad i know who has a box at Sol and his own business. That's what he got told Saturday. Also, lad asked Methven when is he going to get his box wallpapered cos it got none on, Methven replied " listen, when this deal goes through, i will paper it with £50 notes, they are that rich".
It'll be like a kinky Willy Wonka's factory.

The opportunity to build something lasting. To buy us now and get into the PL will most likely cost less in total than Ashley's asking price for Newcastle. These investors are rich enough not to need to worry about making much return - the impression given is that they want to build something they'll be remembered for.

These people have massive plans for our club. They want to build a theme park on Sheepfold's site, as part of the 'Matchday experience' . Also they weren't impressed by size of our club shop, want to build a huge Megastore. Also, one of the investors admitted on Saturday they don't know much about football. Into, American football but they were asking alot of questions about positions on the pitch and trying to get in as much info as possible about football. I got told today one them is worth 14 billion alone  Also, did that Dell is involved in some capacity.
Had to double take whilst reading this comment, sounds completely barmy.

daft question, but what will these yanks get out of it if they do come in, plough millions into us, win the premier league and champions league etc.. surely the prize money and extra marketing revenue will be nothing compared to what it would cost to get us there?

Fun!

Winning!

TV money aside, because of our fan base we’ve got one of the largest revenue streams in England, no debt, newish stadium, academy and training ground, Netflix is effectively free advertising and we’re cheap as fuck. Asking price for the mags is about £200-£300m. Can buy us for about £50m and save yourself a few hundred million for buying the players to get us to that level. I’m amazed it’s taken this long tbh

That sounds a bit unreal

Fit right in with half the posters on here

I agree with you mate but it's only normal that people want their area to receive a boost from anything.

I'm nothing to do with Sunderland but I hate watching LN and hearing of job cuts and closure.

The people in that town have taking some serious knocks, through the years, yet still maintain a sense of humour, dignity and pride in their town.

I'd say they deserve some hope.
There's nothing in that post that i disagree with Reiver. I think for now the boost to Sunderland AFC being a competitive football club and in safe hands financially is enough to get people excited and happy it certainly has that effect on me. I think the way forward for job creation will be in developing the immediate area around the stadium and then development could expand from there. That would be a real legacy if that's what these men from Dell want to achieve. Improving the football on the pitch is where it has to start and that could lead all the way to company's coming to Sunderland boosting employment and the local economy but that is a little way down the line for me. I don't see thousands of jobs being created just now, but hundreds in the next couple of years absolutely.
For the record I am a optimist but before that I'm an opportunist and if i was a Billionaire wanting to put my time in to a legacy project SAFC would tick all the right boxes.
