Thought that’s what he said last week on the radio/ on the WMS podcast? I might be completely wrong, I was just finishing my masters thesis at that time so hadn’t really had a full compliment of sleep tbf!

He said on the radio before the Hull game that it had progressed slower than hoped due to legals. The next step was the EFL application, but he didn't say anything had been submitted.

My apologies. As I say, I had a fairly scrambled brain last week haha.

I think you were right to assume it's progressed to the application stage if like Barnes said was the next step, I hope so anyhow. I think he said realistically we won't hear anything until the end of the month.

No, he said on Saturday that he'd been told that the next step would be to go to the EFL. There's a lot of wiggle room in all this, that can be true and still not have happened yet, but I'm not necessarily saying magnus is wrong, just interested to know if he's willing to double down when others have said it's still in DD.

He has said tonight he will have no more updates now till its confirmed as last he was told its at the EFL

🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

There would be no need for him to, so I can’t imagine he’ll come anywhere near. That would probably be the smartest thing he'd have done since becoming involved with the club.

A lot of people got swept along and most likely wanted to give them a chance. I’m sure you can forgive them for not being as perceptive as you mate.

Considering he'd just done an interview where he said Sunderland fans knew nothing about football because obviously Oxford had won more in 20 years than us, which turned out not to be true...no

Aye, we were right to give them a chance imo and only with time could we genuinely know they weren't right for the club. Others were saying it from the start but I don't see how it could be from any great insight. Ultimately we had a rich owner but one who got all the footballing decisions wrong, lost interest, built up debt and was silent so there was never any communication of any plan from him. At the time it seemed like we needed the opposite. Donald didn't have loads of money, but promised to be committed, to get the football side right, to stop wasting money, to be open and transparent. It was exactly what we needed to hear. If he'd been better at running a football club it could have worked, at least enough to get us back to the championship and established there prior to selling to those with deeper pockets. Sadly it was all a gamble to get up and line his pockets, the mishandling of the academy being the prime example of it. Its very disappointing, but I don't think we were wrong to give them a chance at the start.
