Takeover News/Rumours - Part 42

We have potentially a billionaire coming on board to take a major share of the club. The word is that the key appointment will be a Sporting Director which will be a fundamental change and something we have wanted for a long time - to get the Academy and recruitment to be key parts of the drive forward. All those people will have watched the utter awfulness of our continual long hoof nonsense football that was served up on Friday and I am 100% sure they will not have liked what they saw - that was Phil Parkinson's preferred brand of football regardless of his increasingly desperate and pathetic list of excuses. So, from that we can assume that there is going to be a fundamental change to the way the club goes forward.

We can all worry whether Salmon Pants is part of the decision making or whether Sartori has been part of our dismal attempts to get out of this league but change is coming and the changes sound very sensible. If, however, Parkinson is not gone within days of the new ownership structure we can begin to worry. For the moment, though, we should welcome these potential changes and adopt a positive mind set. Nothing in life is ever guaranteed but from what I have read these changes can only be positive.

Claims the only other bidder has offered less than half he has and is miles away from being agreed.
added that he made a second offer on 19/11/20 which is the highest bid MadRox have received by far

Storey posted an image to his social media last week, with a document claiming to be part of the EFL's Owners and Directors test.

He has since tweeted: "I suggest the Roker Raport ask Sunderland AFC for an official response to their 'story' as it is nonsense.

"The 'deal' they refer to is for less than HALF of what I've bid & is miles away from being agreed.

This takeover, if you can call it that, looks a complete sham. The 3 clowns who got us into this mess are still going to have overall control of the club and the less said about that gobshite Methven still involved the better. Not getting good vibes about this at all.
I personally will wait for the detail at the moment its all speculation but i agree with you about the three clowns!I hope that the milky bar kid will have a controlling stake as i fear for the club if he does not! if charlie and Donald remain in any significant role It will be more of the penny pinching third rate ownership turning us into eastleigh of the north.

My mind is not made up about santi as he only has 20% at the moment and to be honest he has been useless so far and invested little so i cannot get away with the notion that nothing will change unless the swiss lad has more than 70% of the shares as i dont think those other jokers will match his investment on a pro rata basis and only a fool will invest by himself and see others reap the benefit wityh little outlay themselves .

Do we know he is going to be putting substantial money in? Maybe it’s a chance for him to get involved in running football relatively cheaply.

He's going to have to. Because he's buying out some of Donald's share, the price will be related to Donald's personal input of around £12m, rather than any valuation of the club itself. But with that will come joint and several responsibility for the FPP loan and funding the club going forward.

charlie said around 12 months ago, donald wanted out quickly, but i am in it for the long haul, so want to look at the structure of the club. but most importantly why we keep losing our best kids to bigger clubs, how do we keep them
source..... out of the horses mouth !

You misunderstand. What I'm saying is that only shares in Madrox will change hands. I'm very much aware of the existence of new shareholders, thank you.

Then it is not a 'realignment'. A new party is joining proceedings and will be purchasing the shares in Madrox (let's assume that's the case).

A realignment of anything would only be a (barely) reasonable description if the existing shareholders were selling between themselves and no change in the majority shareholder would occur.

I think SD probably couldn’t get the full asking price now as we‘re simply making up the numbers in L1 at the minute.

The price will have been X in L1, Y in the championship and Z in the prem.

As his plan was to get promoted and flip the club for a profit after 1 season, he probably now wants to hang on to some shares and sell those at Y or Z price in the future rather than selling all his shares for X now. Hopefully once KLD takes over SD and CM will be nothing but silent partners in the background waiting for their pay day.
Seems plausible reasoning. I just cannot imagine those two as silent partners. Let’s see how it develops but I don’t think they are exiting stage left. Their avarice probably means they will maintain a level of control until they have recovered their losses.

Which in reality 100% more than he can offer.

I wish he'd fuck off and find something else to garner his publicity off.

Any deal to move Sunderland shares around would be hideously complicated to get the percentages right, even without the added problems of the FPP loan in Madrox. Involving Madrox shares only is far more straightforward.

Donald yes. I think he's broken, and just wants out with as little financial pain as possible. Methven clearly feels there's unfinished business.

Yes he will have to pay for the shares, but it’s still a relatively cheap way of being involved in a football club of this size for someone like him.
We don’t have a clue what his intentions are beyond that.

The suggestion is that the SD will be de facto chairman with a CEO reporting. It's more akin to an NFL set up, where football people run the show with admin working for them.
No I know that. The implication from the Armstrong post and then prehab downplaying methven (but not refuting the ‘running it’ part) is that there is an open question as to who is controlling the sporting director. All very well talking about our modern football structure but if methven presides over the SD, the club is likely to fail - as methven tends to do.
Just wait mate. I actually think someone with your footballing philosophy might be pleasantly surprised.
Hope so pal. Methven having any significant involvement has a good chance to ruin any progressive structure though.

I’m sick of hearing about Gimli now like.

Was a bit of a laugh when it started but he’s just an annoying little toe rag at the minute.

Exactly. They appointed Richard Hill to a similar role last time FFS! It's not even just the appointment its relying on them not to interfere and overrule the appointments they do make. We know for a fact that they previously overruled the likes of Davison, Hill and Coton repeatedly.

That said if Prehab reckons you'll be happy then all we can do is wait and see.
