Takeover in trouble

Think ive always associated the fact that us in debt meant 150 million in debt when with combined money owed for players and this small loan its probably a debt of like 10 million, which even in this case you could imagine why the investors would want to renegotiate having found this

Yeah that's fair

I just think the fact they've taken out even a small loan speaks volumes about their need for cash

From a fan of a club who's had its share of bad owners - if you're not worried, you should be.

From the outside, it looks as though Donald has stopped putting anything above the bare minimum of money into the club until the takeover happened. Now it's fallen through, he'll be scrabbling round for free transfers. He gambled on Grigg in January, who ended up being a last minute panic buy of an injured player with no medical, on the basis that if you were promoted, he'd be able to sell the club for a profit. That failed, his other takeover has failed as well, and now he doesn't have the money to run the club without getting in more debt, which will put potential buyers off. He cant get rid of the high earners, as they'll earn more money at Sunderland than elsewhere.

He makes big promises without having the means to back them up, so now he's promised 6-8 top League 1 players, after most of the best free transfers have been snapped up, so he'll either have to buy players nobody else wants or pay over the odds, which will probably mean getting in more and more debt. He's dug himself into a hole, and I think he'll keep on trying to dig deeper to get out of it.

All this may be unfair, and things may work out for the best, but it's all familiar to the lies of Pompey's previous owners, and I've not seen anything to make me think otherwise.

Duno how many more times we are guna have a disastrous pre season , seems like every season something is going on behind the scenes, panic sets in witha week to go and we end up with some
Garbage , getting bored of it now like really starting to worry about the season ahead unless some activity happens soon

Of course you're right. Not sure why some are trying to pretend the proposed deal wouldn't be a take over. Currently the club is ran by Donald, Methven and Sartori. If the details we've heard are correct, next season the club would be majority owned by someone else, with them as minority shareholders. So they'd have taken over majority control. So a take over. If Donald was left with 0.1% would it still not be a takeover because Donald is still involved? Of course not. If overall control of a club is transferred to a new individual/ group it's been taken over
I think some are confusing a takeover with a 'hostile' takeover which is quite a different thing. Also the new 'owner's wouldn't have a supermajority to be able to change the character of the club.

It's still a takeover whichever way you look at it.

53m takeover being haggled, hardly big bucks in the world of football.

But i do remember Donald saying he would have small stake in club as he feels its in his blood now, so takeover it is, not investment.

But are Donald, Meth, Sartori gonna make bucks out of it, hope not.

Put your tampons back in man

You fannies

The deal was never a make or break thing it is a "nice to have" thing

Fuckin some of youse need to chill out we'll go up next season nowt the matter

Some of youse need to go for an induction up the road, you'd fit right in with them lot with a bed sheet and a bouycoutt and a horse's mouth to hit

Am I wrang?
How do you know that, or are you offering your opinion as fact?

Sense of reality.
This is Division One ffs.
Simple you have to get rid of those ridiculous PL contracts like Catts. Just get rid as best you can.
30,000 crowds alone will give you the biggest budget and put you at the top of choosing the best players at this level.
Invest in a Manager with experience at this level and one who knows what is required to get promotion.
Don’t think about the Championship just getting out of League One.
Nothing worse with investment discussions going on as it distracts the reality requirements of pre season preparation.
Clubs already a week into pre season training and physical fitness levels. Don’t make the mistake that we have time and time again by leaving it late and playing catch up.

Just simple focus and direction. Even with what you have now though you will make a challenge but you won’t be walking it once again. No way.

We wish Swindon........anyway, whilst you here. How are you boys for promotion as i backed you each way in treble last year (not for first time) and i need wonga more than Donald and co ?
