wouldnt have his control although Steyn was very erratic when he first started out

Which young quick's aren't?

Think Tait could be a real asset but can you imagine him and Johnson having a bad day?, totalled with Australia's poor spin options and you wouldn't fancy captaining that day

to be fair Hauritz isnt the worse but they dont pick him

he certainly isnt any worse than Giles was or that Harris for SA is

I don't think he's as good as Giles tbh, you have to remember that Giles was used for a lot of donkey work to negative fields as England attempted to strangle games. Haurtiz couldn't do that sort of work as he bowls too many bad balls.

Giles was also a more than handy number 8 and excellent fielder.

Giles developed a role as a brick wall for that seam attack, there were long periods where he wasn't even pretending to try to take a wicket, Hauritz doesn't have that control. And he's a bit of a mentalist.

Watching this T20, but just can't get excited about it.

Hauritz has a test match batting average of 25, Giles was 21

This. It's a bit shit. Understrength England team, playing decent Australian team. We'll collapse to less than 120 all out.

But according to you the standard of test match bowling attacks has declined in the last 4 years, so thats a pointless stat ;)

that is a fair point, although you could argue Giles was part of a better and more balanced side whereas Hauritz has played in a team on the wain

Hauritz has only played 17 tests, whereas Giles played a lot more and players usually improve their game over their careers

i bet you 12p that england will score more than 120

I thought you would stopped having bets with people

some people never learn

It's all relative, I don't recall Haurtiz making any meaning contributions to the state of the game with the bat, and a few not outs will boost his average considerably from just 17 tests. I'd pick Giles for all 3 disciplines over him no problem at all. His record probably does not do justice to how much of a fine player he was, he suffered immense public criticism at one point and responded in the next 12 months with probably his best year of international cricket, finishing with an Ashes win. Very important member of a good team.

Average price of cheesy chips at the match - £2.50.

40 lots there Carty. Big committment.
:lol::lol::lol:

by the time cook get 35 tons, it might be £100 for a bag of chips

cracking effort this by england though, dragging them back. early on i thought they were going to get 170 plus.

157 for 4 off 20

well on that score imo

though swanny went for 40 off his four, 26 was in his first over, so pulling that back a bit was decent
