Swindon Town 25/26 thread

Typical Swindon.
We’ve not started a game well all season however today the first 25 mins we were very good and should have been out of sight.
Two of our best players in midfield missing today and therefore had to move a few players around. Equally second half we looked a little leggy. Second half against Cardiff midweek we put a real shift in.
Oldham never really threatened although second half we were poor and with only one goal ahead could have lost an important away win.
508 faithful for an early kick off on SKY not bad in fairness.

We have a few young players making their senior debuts this season and can only think they will continue to improve. Evidently we’ve turned down a £300k bid from a Danish League Two side for Harry Smith. Out an out tall centre forward and utilised as a centre half when seeing out games. That was deployed this afternoon.

Two home games now before another early kick off arghhhh away at Crewe.
The battle of the steam trains.

Incredible result for Sunderland, a decent win for Hartlepool and a point for the Cumbrians. A warm day in Oldham though is a rare occasion and any snow or ice had well and truly melted at Ice Station Zebra.
An enjoyable away day for sure.
It's still a bit early to get into any rhythm but it's all about putting things into place for what's ahead, job well done for Swindon, SAFC & Pools. More long journeys aplenty so enjoy the home comforts you travelllers!

Another home game tonight against another newly promoted side, Barnet.
Few injuries piling up already but need to keep in that chasing pack. Holloway despite him rambling on like David Brent he does talk some sense.
Is there another Manager in the FL with longer press conferences.
In fairness I do like listening to him.

As for more signings. That’s all folks we don’t have any money.
No choice just have to keep going with what we’ve got and keep hold of the players.

12:45 - This is what it’s like in the lower league. Cracking point about Isak.
Cracking fit for us right now.

Now i’ve watched some absolute shite in my time but that was up there with the worst. Centre Forward now joining the injury list.
Same old. 120 mile round trip and we go again Saturday for part 2.
5 seasons in the basement and counting.

It's all part of Holloway's master-plan; begin training early, run the legs off them to build up the injury list, get a new physio, then fall so far behind you have to come with a late run like last year but time it better.

Don''t worry too much you'll be in there when it matters....bloody football always does this to fans early season!

Mid table at best beckons.
Hoof ball on a wonderful pitch. That last night was tough to watch and likely lost our centre forward for the season.
Only knows where we go from here.

 Calm yourself down fella, "hoof ball" could be one of the options he's trying if it fits to get something from a game. A CF is only one player and there are many ways to succeed at the other end [big ones, small nippy ones, fat ones, thin ones, etc. if they get the right service they produce in the box]. You have a decent "field" so going to playing football at ground level will be the way Mr H heads. What was his method during your good form last season? I'd bet it wasn't the same every game.

Just hoping there is a method within the madness.
We are imbalanced and just have to see what comes out of it. Nowt I can do about it.

There WILL be reasons for what's going on, you'll know that managers need to try several things with individual players & shapes to reach an end result that they're content with - which takes time while oppo managers try to read what's in other managers plans so they can play on them. It's always an ongoing ever-changing cycle.

EG; compare what IH tried when he first came in and which way it gradually developed from there to where he is now with his player group.

Centre Forward and key player (Harry Smith) now out for the season with an ACL. Unreal that last week we turned down a bid for £350k.
Key defender now out for 8 weeks. No cover as one out on loan and now injured, the other wants a move up north and therefore won’t feature.
Sold our promising 17 year old, Botan Ameen to Norwich earlier for £250k with a further £500 future add ons and a sell on clause.

Trying to sign an experienced defender from Wycombe but not over the line.

Meanwhile hearing a takeover meeting may have happened today.

Tinpot Club for sure but some of us still up for it week in and week out.
Would love to get off the ride but just can’t. It’s draining for sure.

Positives & negatives in there, part of supporting a football club I suppose. Mr H has a bit of work to do. And you woudn't kick it either, see what comes out of it he'll be putting a bite on what he needs because he has a bit of cash from the Ameen deal.

How's our loan player doing?

Hopefully some of that will go back into the budget.
Right from the start of todays press conference he is gutted.

I like him.
Still learning but having to grow up very fast. Playing in a back line of 3 with little experience. Getting all the game time he needs and definitely a player in there.

Well 6 points to you this season from Barrow, Imo not recruited well this season hope I'm wrong but a big struggle awaits.

Still not convinced with us now.
10th place beckons. Get these bastards out of our Club then it’s a FA Cup winning feeling.🙏🙏🤞🤞

but you can look forward to the 3 points
Good luck today against Shrewsbury mate
Although I don't rate Barrow's recruitment Shrewsbury have only a point on the board so a fixture Barrow could get a point or three although I wont be putting a bet on it. Barrow's managers post match speech about the midweek loss to Harrogate was "totally embarrassing"
Good luck today against Shrewsbury mate
