For the North stand, I don't think it would be a big job. Just move the turnstiles out to the extension & extend the concourse to the bit underneath the NS extension.

The bars are only made out of breeze blocks, so should be too difficult moving them back a few feet.

The current safety certificate extends to spectator ingress and egress. Where would people queueing to enter the ground be? People make it sound easy when its anything but.

No one has said it was easy, it's been mentioned as ideas to improve the concourses and possibly increase revenue.

If the safety certificate is happy with how packed the concourses are then queueing can't be high up the list

Just curious but why is everyone so against the local pubs, which hire local people all year round, earning some revenue on a match day. Everyone keeps banging on about how Sunderland is dead yet the one day they can earn some money people want to take it away for the benefit of no-one really.

20 pints a pub could keep it afloat, 20 pints in the stadium won't do anything.

It could be key to the redevelopment of Sheepfolds which atm is a bit of a dump.

our digital offering is absolutely dogshit and is woefully under-monetised. The True Geordie youtube channel has 30 times as many subscribers as SAFC.

With the esports centre opening up over the road SAFC could easily be establish eSports teams and monetising that.

The big problem is that the club can't compete price-wise with the pubs on the North side of the river (and a substantial number south of the river). A lot of our fans are price-sensitive, rather than quality-sensitive. Spurs can do it because they are competitive with the local pubs. There would be some impact with an improved offer, but 75-80% of the gate will still arrive after 2.30 for a 3pm kickoff/

Thats rubbish in my ecperience. The real ale pubs in the City Centre pretty much all charge £4 - £4.50 per pint and are rammed every home game. Its the quality that's the issue not the price.

I've argued the same before (especially the North stand) however all it would do is relieve some congestion. It's nowhere near enough for tables & chairs (possibly a few stools along the back wall). Also you'd lose most of that extra space if you were to make it 'indoors' putting extra doors between concourse & main arena & turnstiles.

This talk about messing around with the concourses completely ignores the fact that they are an intrinsic part of the emergency evacuation route for 48,000 people in the event of a major emergency. The louvres on the sloping bits are smoke vents and calculations were done to ensure the upper part of the concourses could hold smoke long enough (i.e. above everyones heads) to get everyone out in the event of a fire.

But yeah lets just add some insulated walls and ceilings and turn them all into pubs.

Very good point they’re like. Match days will be the difference between certain bars being open & closed.

Only a suggestion like but put some water in the babies' bottles and get some tic toc influencer to tell teenagers they are a must have (or you're not cool) item and flog them for £25 each. We'd have more dosh than the mags!

We're not hemmed in by terraced housing like Liverpool, they extended. There's enough space around the ground imo

Leicester have just launched the first self service bar. You scan in with your credit card and then get charged when you leave the kiosk. Very clever
