Surrey v Durham CC 2025

We definitely need to get our heads down and not play any stupid shots.

We've given a couple of chances already which luckily they didn't take. Keep your heads lads. Well get a draw out of this.

I've been a Sunderland fan before I was a twinkle in my parent's eye, as was my dad. But he was born in Surrey, as I was, and he was brought up on the great Surrey team of the 1950s. So I never had a choice, the same as my football team.

But I'm conflicted here, as a grandson of East Durham. That's a crazy total. Sibley is of the Boycott/Tavare school. Can bore you to death but a bit of a brick wall.

No,unfortunately, with the extreme heat I think the pitch will dry out and crack to take spin, certainly by the final day. We'll lose heavily and it'll be no less than we deserve for that crass decision at the toss. There was a green tinge at the beginning but that was never going to compensate for having to bat last on a pitch, given the weather, which would likely be difficult to bat on.
Glad it’s only the one down , so bat out tomorrow is the first target going forward

Wonder what winviz thinks ?
Pointer hasn't moved from the zero

Not sure whether it has been mentioned but there COULD be significant disruption on Wednesday due to rain.

That’s harsh. I saw them both. If Boycott had batted for a day and a half he’d done well to make 200. I saw what I am pretty sure was his last first class century at Middlesbrough, and it took him forever on what wasn’t that big a ground. And the test version of Tavare would be about 65 not out.

I’m being a bit flippant, I admit. I guess compared to some of his team mates he’s more circumspect. I’m still not a fan of him opening in the Blast mind you. I can see the idea behind it but it feels a bit of a stretch.

I suspect that was a significant factor in the decision to keep on batting.

Well fair to say 2 very tough days for Durham. However as I lurk on social media, it seems a lot of "fans" absolutely thrive on negativity or the Blaydon Races, yet never to be seen when the team do well, I find that piss poor because this team have done ever so well in recent times and whilst this game isn't great we need to back the lads and encourage them.

This Kookaburra ball, I don't need to bore anyone with my views anymore it's just shit.

Just got to dig in tomorrow and see where we are at 7pm tomorrow, small steps.

Hopefully someone has put an arm round Driss tonight, must have been very tough for him today but he's a team player who has contributed this season, so we all just need to stick together.

That said I did comment on the bowling "recruitment" at the start of the season, piss poor and that blame lies with Marcus North and I am still in the view he should be nowhere near this club.

Anyway on with tomorrow, good luck lads.

If the lack of response from the captain and the rest of the team when Minto dropped that catch against Somerset is anything to go by then poor Driss could be in for a long wait.

North should have got his cards and his coppers at the same time as when Franklin went the journey. Pity Durham didn't have the coppers to do it.

Good post, Drissell has shown signs of improvement lately and bowlers all over the country have had some chastening days over the last couple of weeks. That said, Lees should have taken him off before he did.

Bowling recruitment has been very poor IMO the last couple of seasons, overseas bowlers apart. Connors, Parkinson, both second division cricketers for me and outside of Potts and Raine we really are limited.

The problem is that North and Bostock appear to be able to do as they wish without any monitoring or accountability from an anonymous chairman and board of directors. I'm seriously concerned about the the future of my beloved club.
