Sunderland's former Jewish population: what happened?

My lass recently found out her Grandad's mother was a Polish Jew who came here in the early 30s and settled in Liverpool. Her Grandad being born a few years later.

She was completely non-plussed by this - I was really interested :lol:
 


I remember a ticket shop called Rosenthal’s. My mother took me for school gear. One of the sons called David called every week for the money, he moved to Isreal around 1960.
 
Mam worked at Refson's clothing factory in the 1950s and early 60s. Originally in the old Pann Lane (factory about where St Marys Way or the car park are now) then moved to Commercial Road.

Not sure what happened to the family but not a name you hear around the town now
