Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

😂 You actually think because Middlesbrough fans "care" more is the reason we have had a good run against you? So when you beat us a few times under Reid we didnt care as much? It's ridiculous to say that tbh.
How often do you post on a Boro forum?

In my lifetime since the late 80s we have overall probably gotten the better of Sunderland. Apart from the late 90s and 2010-2015 we have also been more successful with a better team. So go figure.

Lots 👍

Its not a derby as such but if Newcastle weren't around it would be' fairly local affair no matter how you look at it.Most of the younger generation of fans at either club don't get excited about it but in the 70's it's was a different situation altogether. Should create a good atmosphere at the game though if both are still on form.

I’ll be winding up the Billingham lads that sit near us about this one
Should be a good game if both sides in top form still

Bless me? What? I do believe it. Hence me saying it.

Your theory makes me wonder why Ravanelli, Emerson and Juninho didn't wipe the floor with Craig Russell, Richard Ord and Andy Melville - given they were better players and more up for it. 👍
Ravenelli? Emerson? Junimio? Better than Russell, Ord and Melville?!?! Bit early for the hallucinogenics isn’t it?

I don’t actually know what the head to head was, was just trying to clarify what I thought the poster meant.

Since 1990, its

I’d say that a fantastic record for Middlesbrough

I mean we have been far more successful in that period too. As I said on a previous post. With some excellent teams. We won a cup, reached a major European final and were a solid premier league team - you were getting record low points totals. Even when we were rubbish in recent times you have gone to shit too.

I was at the last game we played and that was pretty standard tbh. When we played you in the premier league under Moyes or Coleman they were drab affairs at the Riverside and the fans were hardly bouncing.

Agree regarding Coleman.
I'm interested by what you mean as pretty standard? Were your players always up for games to that extent? The form immediately before and after plus your manager's eventual sacking suggest not. Are your fans? The attendances at the Riverside suggest not. That game but 7k on the gate from the previous match. The next game you lost 8k.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I remember pyrotechnics for this game. Do you do that for every game?

Pyrotechnics - yes for night games.

The atmosphere at the Riverside is generally very good it has been for around 3-4 years. Honestly.

The crowd increase is fair point but I don't think we suddenly played 10% better because we have a few less empty seats. We have played shit plenty of times with similar crowds.

That night if Stewart had played you may of beaten us or at least got a draw. Then what? Nobody thinks anything of Boro being up for it. It isn't like we played you off the park. It was a scrappy 1-0 win.

Apart from the late 90s and 2010-2015? Are you forgetting you’ve won one trophy in your entire clubs history? Let’s have it right mate. Sunderland and Middlesbrough just don’t compare in terms of a successful football club.
