Sunderland vs boro 22 Jan 23

No. It’s because our fans don’t. If you’ve been to a mag match then you’d sense the difference in fan attitudes which transfers to the pitch. Under Reid we had our best team since the 50s, we were beating a lot of other teams more regularly.

I mean we also had a fairly useful team back then. It's absolute bollocks. Think about what you are saying.

Our players suddenly don't player better because your fans don't care as much. The recent run of results against us might be because you have been dogshit tbh under Moyes, Coleman etc.

A bit of extra chew in the stadium, or banter on social media has absolutely no bearing on us beating you. We have just played you at the right time and have had a good run. It will turn.

😂 You actually think because Middlesbrough fans "care" more is the reason we have had a good run against you? So when you beat us a few times under Reid we didnt care as much? It's ridiculous to say that tbh.
Naaaah, not just the fans. The manager gets the players "up" for a big Derby and I honestly don't think that we treat it in the same way.

The Reid years were different. We just had a class crop of players, for a few years.

Precisely this.

That might come down to quality at the time. I think the point is when the teams are relatively even, Middlesbrough are more up for the game which gives them an edge.

Sorry no way. The clubs have been fairly even for 70 years and we don't have a significantly better record.

It's not a Derby......Middlesborough traditionally in Yorkshire.......

Should be a good game between two decent teams, we may get bullied out of it again!!

Just totally disagree. A bunch of millionaire footballers don't get extra inspiration for a Sunderland game. Trust me.

Bless you, pretending you actually believe that.

Bless me? What? I do believe it. Hence me saying it.

Your theory makes me wonder why Ravanelli, Emerson and Juninho didn't wipe the floor with Craig Russell, Richard Ord and Andy Melville - given they were better players and more up for it. 👍

Although Boro may have had the better of recent exchanges perhaps, Sunderland have the better record overall in the League winning 56 times compared to 43 lucky Boro victories. At home we have played them 66 times only losing 12 but winning 37 times......
But then when has History been Important!!!!!

It was clear in the last game we played. I was actually a little taken aback by how 'up for it' Middlesbrough were.

What your suggesting about millionaire footballers is just wrong. Some of the tackles you see in the Tyne/Wear derby show that or Kane skying a penalty in a world cup.

I dunno I think there's a huge point everytime we played the mags in recent years. It's been well known when anyone joined player or manager. Best the mags you need to etc. I think there's a definitely an added edge to boro games but I do defo think players/managers will play up to a Derby game that's all

I was at the last game we played and that was pretty standard tbh. When we played you in the premier league under Moyes or Coleman they were drab affairs at the Riverside and the fans were hardly bouncing.

It gans back to the 60s in my own experience. It’s nowt to do with your players or fans, it’s all from our end. Our fans don’t get up for it as much as a mag match so our players don’t either. Your lads just need to turn up and play even a normal game and you’re taking the points.
I think we’ve won summet like 6 to your 20 since 1968 when I first went to Roker.

Get your book out again and check from 1968 onwards. Theres a surprising difference. Mebbes it’s me and I’m a curse? I’ve been cursed in just about every other aspect of life so it wadnt be surprising.
