*~*~* Sunderland v Watford match thread *~*~*

Talked to Dick in the Montgomery Suite on 15/4 about his goals. He said he used to score from outside the box regularly up in Scotland but was told when he came to us “we don’t want any of that here … lay it off and let the top players hit the back of the net”. 😳
Dick was hugely popular at the time. When he scored the one I mentioned, people were willing hom to score while expecting him to miss. Bedlam when the ball went in

Just home (bloody A19). Just wanted to say how amazing it is to watch players develop so obviously when they’re given regular opportunities. Now it’s Huggins turn and just like Ba’s recent form, he’ll be hard to displace in the team now.

Never felt so sick coming out after a win and seeing what was happening up the road.

We've had them going on about beating Barcelona for 25 years, we've got another 25 years of this now.

Did they win the 'we beat PSG' Trophy tonight because if they didn't they are still waiting for silverware 🙄

When I saw their result it was more one of trepidation as they are getting there. It did not get me off the high of our result no matter the difference in the competitions

Mags looked good but still a way to go to actually win something.

Well said. I tuned in hoping PSG turned it around but caught their 4th goal. Switched the radio off completely. I was gutted at how well they were doing. No matter what we do they always find a way to overshadow our achievements.

That said I would never in a million years change places with them. We are in a way better position. We are hopefully only at the start of a journey upwards and not one that nosedives. Hopefully KLD has learned from his father and whatever has happened in Marseille to make them a big club and how to properly build a club up from scratch and get it to promotion to the top league.

We’ve already achieved more than I thought we were capable of ever achieving. Never in my lifetime did I think I would see what’s already happened. God knows what could happen in a years time, or two years time, or three, or four. God knows what we could potentially achieve in the medium to long term. Even short term.

You can keep your Champions League and Real Madrids. You can keep your FA Cups. You can keep your Premiership trophy. I am more than happy being in the position we are in now.
