*~*~* Sunderland v Plymouth match thread *~*~*

When Neil plays in the holding role he causes problems by bursting forward. The twice I have seen Samid he just sits in and plays simple sideways passes. We need more than that when we challenging for promotion and especially against the bottom team. And I haven't even mentioned his mistakes
By all means play him against Leeds, Burnley, Sheffield etc but he was completely unnecessary against that Plymouth side. There really wasn't much threat of them bursting through the middle of us.
The main danger was us sitting off and letting them lump long balls into our box...

I'm normally level headed and philosophical about Sunderland, but this result today is unbelievable.

They had scored 3 goals in their previous 13 away matches, ffs they were probably unlucky not to double that tally against us today.

It makes you wonder where it leaves us re our promotion ambitions, absolutely deflating :(
Burnley & Leeds will go up automatically.
We'll have as good a chance as the others in the playoffs (injuries permitting)

Absolutely don’t play him against good teams. He’s managed to cost us goals against Stoke & Plymouth, fuck knows what a good team would do to him.

He’s absolutely pants.

After the Hull surprise result, I was not the only one who felt there was 'something' in the water, as it were

We were poor today and could have easily lost, if Plymouth hadn't missed a couple of sitters.

Back from the match.

Shite. But not as shite as those on this thread would have you believe. One point closer to Sheffield and one of Leeds and Burnley so not a complete disaster

Couldn't watch much of the game as the stream constantly buffered all game but think that is us fighting for 2nd place now unless Leeds don't win and their game ends up a draw against Burnley. We have to beat Boro away, a draw would be ok there but a win would make up for dropping 2 points today.

WTF have I just watched? Game demanded upbeat tempo and pace. We played like we were following a coffin at a funeral.
the coffin would have lost us today we were complete dross, Patterson played the ball out and 15 passes later he got it back and it had not been out of our half, Jobe had 5 passes before he passed it forward, i don't think its the players fault they are just doing what they are told to do but putting Ballard on for Isador was very negative and i think a Dodd recommendation i am getting sick of this boring play.
