09 had 4 choices when the ball comes to him in the box.

Head it to Patto, head it like he did, leave it for Patto, kick it clear. He chose the wrong one. But Patto has to be commanding his area there. He’s absolutely glued to his line.

Couldn't understand the starting line up.
Tactics, line up and performance all wrong.
The fact that he then changed to 5 at the back and retreated further still was baffling!

2 points dropped again when at least 2 (possibly even all 3) of the others in the top 4 will have dropped points is scandalous when we’re playing a team who got pummelled 5-0 midweek and haven’t won away from home since April!

Not impressed by Samed, thought Jobe didn't play as well because of the formation. No Mayenda or Rigg? You lose urgency without Rigg. We're not ruthless enough so it'll be play-offs at best I think.

Not a total disaster but disappointing. Boro, Watford, Leeds all winnable with the right players and formation. No easy games in our league, keep the faith we've gained a point on Sheff U.

Hopefully a blip, we are good enough but have to play the pressing game, with it's intensity rather than playing negatively.

My take on Plymouth. Burnley went to play Plymouth and treat them like they were a bottom team who couldn't score.5-0 at H.T. We played Plymouth and treat them like a team who were Champions League winners.SAFC got a lucky 2-2 draw. More matches with that set up/attitude we will be screwed . Set up like that against Mboro and Leeds ,chances are similar results. Hopefully not .

Having been a season ticket holder and supporter for many a year,I always go to the game in hope rather than expectation (don't know who's going to kill me quicker, my rescue greyhound or supporting SAFC). I hoped after the result at Sheffield last night that we would have a team and performance that would put us right back in the race for a top 2 spot. My comment used to be ''typical Sunderland, always let you down'', but after today, I have changed that to ''typical Sunderland always fuck it up''.
I could not for the life of me figure why Le Bris started Samed on such an important game, and to be fare the lad was quite neat and tidy in the first half, but like the rest of the team completely toothless, when we really needed Dan Neil playing there to get us 40 yards up the pitch.
Second half, I am still at a loss as to what happened and how a team who had scored only 3 away goals all season managed to nearly (and should have matched that total) double that total in one game against a promotion contender. What was even worse was even though we were crap, we managed to get 2-1 in front and then decided to take our main goal threat off and revert to a near 10 man defence at the end.
Regis I love you, but man up and admit you completely fucked up in your team selection and substitutions today (IMO).

It's like Regis wants to end up games with 10 centre-halves and a keeper!

You talk about the club's identity, Regis, and yes, we do love centre halves, but not 10 on the pitch, eh? We like attacking, too.

Spot on

Very eloquently stated. Regis was asking for it with his set up and his subs, our boys are capable of attractive attacking football , let them do it

that just about nailed how I'm feeling had the conversation going through to the match so not that surprised seen it so many times before poor decision making all around starts with the manager

Really like this current squad and what they’ve done so I’ll not go in too critical. But today I think we turned up with an attitude of these lot were 5-0 down at half time of their game on Wednesday so it’s a walkover.

Plymouth did nothing first half but games ebb and flow, they often change and in the second half they were the better side. We scored 2 good goals but gave up loads of good chances and really probably should’ve lost the game 3-2 by my reckoning.

It’s not fatal but equally a huge opportunity missed. A decent length of time between now and the Boro game so hopefully the players get a bit of a break and we re-focus as well as make a new signing or two.

Ha’way the Lads.

Went back to bed after the game so have had a bit of time to reflect .
RLB has been brilliant this season but he got it wrong today.
His lineup today was far too defensive against a team hammered 0-5 in their previous game .
He should have started with Mayenda up front alongside Isador and not started Samed.
Could be a defining moment in the season but it's not over till the fat lady sings . Knowing Sunderland we will probably take six points from Boro and Leeds.

Couple of matches ago Adil Aouchiche was outstanding MOTM from the left. Getting into attacking forward positions, crossing and shooting on sight( about 4 attempts) The manager brings in Le Fee ,drops Adil and puts the 20million Euro man in his position . Why FFs ? Obviously the manager doesn't rate him ,again why ? Roberts has been way down on his performances for far too long. Seems some kind of mental block, making wrong decisions.Still get's selected .Samed ,again why ? Adil on left ,Le Fee midfield was so obvious to everybody except the manager. In the Championship you have to fight your way out as well as play winning football.More teams from the bottom of league will be turning up with the same attitude ,push SAFC and we will have a chance. Come on RLB get some faith and attack ,other wise play offs will beckon .Tough games due.Rant over .HTL.

To be fair now that I've calmed down Plymouth had gone to Brentford recently and won 1-0. They were actually well -organised and determined. What the hell happened against Burnley I don't know but I would guess Burnley took most of their chances. We played poorly, should have lost and these things happen. My concern was the end of the game.Truly horrific tactics to shove defenders on. He has to stop that crap.

Too much of Dodds talk in his ear.

It doesn’t excuse it but Sheffield United had a similar game against them recently and just scraped over the line. It’s frustrating as fuck but it is what it is.

I still find it really frustrating when we take a forward off and bring a defender off. Can’t understand why managers keep doing this.

Subs seem to follow a regular pattern, moving O'Nien to left back to bring Ballard on. Hjelde coming on as a defensive winger to see a game out is a nonsense when you have Aleksic and Aouchiche on bench who could have carried ball and offered more of a threat and more importantly kept the ball in our possession in attacking areas. When we actually played with intensity after they scored we got the goals and went back into our shell rather than finishing them off.

I like Le Fee, he obviously has quality but yesterday I felt we were playing to accommodate him, rather than playing to his strengths. Samed looked average at best and as I say, the substitutions were negative to say the least.

Hopefully lessons learned and with over a week to the boro game we can find that striker/finisher we need to add to the squad.
