Sunderland AFC U18s

Centre half.
Scored a header from a corner and nearly got an identical one shortly after.
The left back looked a decent player as well.
Very good player Neild. Been moved to CB now it seems. Good LCBs are rare too.
The LB was Hester

Nothing to be massively concerned about from what I saw today. Played the right way and a couple of lapse moments led to the goals.

The U16 were also playing at the same time and that was a bit of an eye opener. The Burnley side were absolutely massive and much more physical in comparison to our lads.

We do seem to have a lot of runts in the u18/21 with the exception of a few

Giving the ball away in dangerous areas?

Always been the way, sick to death of teams of monsters walking onto the pitch to play our young'uns. Thought this would have been addressed by now. Poverty over the decades has basically left our bairns under fed and under nourished leading to smaller humans. Incredible we keep producing the way we do.

Different approaches, some academies are known for always having big, physical teams, we’re usually the opposite and it can lead to being dominated especially in midfield and in the box.
If you’re small you’ve got to be especially good at top pro level, where the trend is for leaner more athletic players. Average height has decreased in recent years with the style of play evolving & the Pep effect.

Too much emphasis of playing nice football and playing the right way. I'd say the vast majority of goals scored against us at u18 and u21 level was due to playing the right way.

I'm sorry like but the right way is winning matches.
Have to disagree with you there.
Surely the U18s is the time when they should be learning how to play football properly in like with the way the first time wants to play?

I totally disagree u18s should be where they are starting to really learn how to win football matches. They are pretty much 1 step away from senior football.

These lads will have been in the Academy system since 7 or 8 years old learning how to play "properly". So u18s should really to know the jeopardy of losing and be held accountable for it.

How are they going to survive in the real world of men's football if they are protected from it all the way to u21s

Actually, it's ridiculous saying properly football. Whatever that means. All thud tippy tappy stuff is a fad and is currently being replaced by winning football
