Sunday is our biggest game for decades

I don’t think people realise just how much playing in Europe puts a club on the radar of players / agents.

It’s one of the biggest games in recent history due to the step up it presents. Especially the Europa League as it’s a gateway into the Champions League. The calibre of player we’d attract this summer would be significantly higher.

Of course it’s not the end of the world if we fail unlike say being in a relegation scrap final day. But if our ultimate ambition is success and trophies then you can’t dismiss just how huge this opportunity is.

What do we all reckon ?

Just watched their match from last night against Spurs

They looked up for it, hopefully that was cos it was a derby

Can we beat them on Sunday ?

Last time we were in Europe was 1974.

Sunday is a bigger game than any of the playoffs. This is it. After a decade of despair we are on the verge of European football after only one season back.

I still can't quite believe this is where we are. I can't even talk about it without getting emotional. I'm so proud of this team. I f***ing just love them!
Last time we were in Europe was 1973, not 1974. We played Vasas and Sporting Lisbon during the period up to November 1973.

I think we’ll win yes.
I do believe it’ll all hinge on the Brentford result as I can see Brighton getting a draw at home to Man U (certainly if they play like they did at our place last week)

It really is incredibly difficult to fathom that we’ve ended up in this (great) situation.

Back in July I was on a train with the family and the missus ran the dates passed me for a week away to celebrate her parents’ 50th wedding with her family: May 24th to 31st. Apparently for the 3rd time but I hadn’t been paying attention.

Checked the fixtures and I was like “shit that’s the last game of the season”

Absolutely gutted not to be there. Got a couple of mates using our season tickets but it doesn’t make me feel much better! I’m not sure on the flight times so there’s a chance we’ll be in the air while the game is going on 😢

If someone can ‘like’ this post it’ll make me feel better that someone has sympathy for me…!

I honestly thought it would be a relegation decider for us, then we announced that we’d signed Xhaka a few days later and it all began to unravel…!
I’m also missing it mate. Only weekend a group of us could do for a mates 30th who lives abroad, gutted. I missed Cov at home as well due to work, so hoping for a similar atmosphere / experience for everyone there!

They did look up for it tbf, it was a very intense game, I'm hoping that without a chance of Champions League and against a random club 100s of miles away, they feel less inclined to graft on those tired, worn out legs.

I don't agree to be honest - I'm looking forward to Sunday and don't deny it's a big game but compared to the stomach churning feeling I had last year ahead of the play-off final and it's not even in the same stratosphere. Getting back to the top table is bigger than a shot at the Europa Conference.
This, close the thread.

Unless we are in a proper final, like the FA Cup, then we wont see a game as big as last year for some time.

85% spending as opposed to 70% spending may dictate their performance

Brighton will get more than a draw imo. They can still get Champions League if results go their way. United are the most on the beach team in the league this weekend.

I expect Liverpool to get it done v Brentford. And I expect us to win. That would give us conference league, being upgraded to Europa if Villa win the Europa, Liverpool win and lose to Man City. Three results that tbh, are all favoured outcomes...

how does that work like?

villa are champions league regardless of what happens, as they can't finish lower than 6th
