Sunday is our biggest game for decades

Relegation is a bigger blow than missing out on Europe. Spurs have been saying the next 2 games are the biggest in their recent history. That doesn't mean they consider staying up is better achievement than winning the Europa League. Calling Sunday a once in lifetime opportunity is lacking ambition. Do you not think we could challenging for Europe next season?
It really isn’t we went down a few year back after 10 year of dross.aye it took a while tk get back but when we did weve surpassed every single one of those seasons last time we were in the prem already in one season this time around. Yeah there’ll be job losses but relegation a disaster people make it out to be. Villa mags fulham all went down come back stronger then ya have the likes of us Norwich Burnley n West Brom that for a good few year would go down come back up go down back up. How is going dowm a bigger game seriously? It is a once in a lifetime because none of us have ever had this opportunity going into the last game that’s why.

Its a massive game but there is big hurdle in our way, chelsea still have some match winners in their team and as with every game this season it will take a big performance a bit of luck to see us win the game.

Sunday is a bigger game than any of the playoffs. This is it. After a decade of despair we are on the verge of European football after only one season back.
Not quite. Lose on Sunday and we are still a Premiership side. Lose in the playoffs and we remain in the Championship or League One. Europe is a "nice to have" not a "need to have" as there are no serious consequences for not qualifying.

I don't agree to be honest - I'm looking forward to Sunday and don't deny it's a big game but compared to the stomach churning feeling I had last year ahead of the play-off final and it's not even in the same stratosphere. Getting back to the top table is bigger than a shot at the Europa Conference.
Agree with this. Be great to qualify for something but it'll just be a nice bonus for what has already been a cracking season.

I still reckon Wycombe at Wembley was the most important game in decades. Lose that, and we’d have been dead and buried to a whole generation of fans.
Not as profile as the championship or potential European games, but I honestly think if we’d lost that we’d have been down in league one for years, playing to 15,000

Nowhere near man. Weve had cup finals play off finals rewarding us with 200 plus millio. Etc . It will be great to win amd cant wait but not even close to our biggest game
It’s a huge game the amount of ££££ we can spend and move on to the next level is one of many reasons….It’s every Sunderland supporter dream Europe in my eyes

It really is incredibly difficult to fathom that we’ve ended up in this (great) situation.

Back in July I was on a train with the family and the missus ran the dates passed me for a week away to celebrate her parents’ 50th wedding with her family: May 24th to 31st. Apparently for the 3rd time but I hadn’t been paying attention.

Checked the fixtures and I was like “shit that’s the last game of the season”

Absolutely gutted not to be there. Got a couple of mates using our season tickets but it doesn’t make me feel much better! I’m not sure on the flight times so there’s a chance we’ll be in the air while the game is going on 😢

If someone can ‘like’ this post it’ll make me feel better that someone has sympathy for me…!

I honestly thought it would be a relegation decider for us, then we announced that we’d signed Xhaka a few days later and it all began to unravel…!

It's good that we can look back and laugh now.

What a time to be alive.
You have to laugh mate. I mean no disrespect (In fact the total opposite ) when I recall watching the away game to Oxford and some Sunderland lads had a big white van outside the ground looking in , while there was a stepladder as they had climbed on the roof to see in during Covid, but some lad in a wheelchair was looking up in the photo and I always imagined him asking "What's happening man a selfish buggers!"

Living down south my lad convinced me to go to Northampton away as we would be able to see from outside the ground. Go there and cop vans all over and about 50 to 100 SAFC fans walking in 2's and doing star jumps every time the police walked past as you were allowed half hour exercise a day , well they waited until exactly 3.30 before telling us to all move on as they had us done our half hour exercise on their chest cameras or whatever or we would be fined 250 quid each. It was bloody freezing and glad we drove home as finished 0 0
