Strauss and his stupid ideas....

I mean, i'd look at how much 50 over stuff other nations play

nice to give him absolutely no credit for our success tho

nah hes just an "ECB stooge" who "scored a few runs once"

nice mate

So? Why are you posting that?

there'd be no reduction in red ball cricket in his proposals btw.
There would be a significant reduction in CC games, offset partially by some non-competitive stuff without players from the 16.4 circus. And if the counties accept this reduction there's a good chance it will be the thin end of the wedge for the 'at risk' counties

The County Championship will reduce from 14 games to 10. He's proposing additional red ball games involving regional sides and festivals but it's not the same thing. They're effectively friendlies. People want to watch a game with a competitive edge to it.
Friendly festivals will never work imo.

Trying too hard to keep everyone happy.

Why would you look at other nations when WE are the World Champions??

Everyone else will be looking to us. What we were doing was clearly working, whilst every other nation failed.

The World Cup Final MoM learnt his craft (amongst other things) playing Royal London Cup games for Durham. He was MoM in the semi final and played a key role in the final itself when we won it in 2014. In its current guise, he wouldn’t even play in it. It’s been relegated to what is essentially a Second XI competition.

14 games now, 10 under his new proposals. Maths not your strong point?
It cant be cancelled at the minute!!

in the mean time its about protecting what we have

Which is exactly what I’m doing.
Yeah I am sure watching a team drawing a amazing 8 games out of 12 !

With dull tedious boring cricket will get the kids hooked on the game.

I suppose you going round the ground telling them it’s proper cricket though would make all the difference.

No no, don’t move the goalposts. You made a braindead comment about kids not watching County Cricket. When they do. Two posters have since told you that plenty of kids get down to County Championship games.
Your bullshit statement has been completely debunked. Why not shuffle off and let the people who actually know about county cricket talk about it, eh?
Probably would tbf was one hell of a winter

Maybe Jimmy could get away with it. Or Colly

What you talking about moving the goalposts, I never said kids don’t watch championship games, I said they more likely to get off their PlayStations to watch a short format game designed to attract them, than a slow 4 day game with no result which has happened the majority of times this season at Chester-le-Street.

I would think that was obvious??

I never suggested you did, I said exactly what you said, because I can read. You said the idea of kids going along to County Championship games in the school holidays was ludicrous.

I’ll refresh your memory for you:

The idea that kids are going to get of their PlayStation to go along to a county championship game in the school holidays to talk about players knowing where their off stump is and what is a good leave!! I find ludicrous.

Like I said, stick to talking about things you actually have the faintest clue about.

No comparison to white ball there. Like I said, stick to talking about things you actually have the faintest clue about.
Dear me, you know my wider point, you know you do, I have said plenty of times, short format cricket will be more attractive to kids to firstly get involved in cricket than long format.

You know that is what I meant by my comments you really do, but instead want to score petty points

Your wider point was as much a load of bullshit as your narrowminded one.

It isn’t one or the other, it doesn’t have to be and it’s never had to be. @Steak Pie pointed that out to you already anyway but for some reason you avoided responding to that.

It’s ridiculous that people can’t simply disagree with Strauss proposals and say soo, while at the same time fully respect what he has achieved and earned respect in his career.

Instead lower themselves to calling him petty childish names but then again I am not surprised.
Not many people have to be fair. It's interesting you've chosen to focus on that rather than comment on the actual proposal.

Well I have focused on that firstly mate, because I simply think his statue in the game deserves better than the names some all be it the minority have directed towards him.

he is proposing red ball cricket in august, you might not like it but its still cricket

no point talking to you, its like talking to a child

I never suggested he wasn’t. You suggested that he wasn’t proposing a reduction in red ball cricket. To which I correctly pointed out that he absolutely is.

no point talking to you, its like talking to a child

Given your inability to accept that you’re wrong and that contracts can indeed be broken, I could say the same about you.

Sorry, I haven't read all the comments after this so you might have already addressed this, but I genuinely think 50 over international cricket is finished. I think we are at the point of loads of T20 and half a dozen test playing countries

I'll be honest fella, and I think you're a cracking poster, you are the one who has gone on and on about the abuse. Yes, there were some needless comments early on in the thread but most other posters want to talk about the proposals and you're the one who keeps mentioning having a go at Strauss

I agree. There's no need for any abuse but that's not the big thing on this thread IMO.
I agree, but that doesn’t mean if I think someone is been called petty childish names by some posters after all he has done in the game I can’t bring it up??
You’ve focused on that firstly and only, because that’s all you’ve got. You absolutely cannot debunk any of the cricketing points made by people who actually care about county cricket.
All I have got, why do constantly have to turn it, in to a point scoring competition as if it’s a battle all the time with you.

Strauss deserves more respect than you and some others were giving him so pointed that out.

It doesn't at all but my point was that you didn't mention the main point of the thread at all in your first post on it. You did go onto it later but I thought it was a really strange thing to focus on initially amongst all of the good chat on the thread.

You don’t get the concept of a discussion/debate do you?

So again, anything to add regarding the proposals? Without mentioning Play Stations….
