Strauss and his stupid ideas....

I can see durham voting yes especially if bostock is looking for an ECB job

Yes agree. He's also a director for the Northern team in the 100 and North is also involved in that team. We all need to message the club in whatever way we can and ask for their view. The club have been quick off the mark to try and flog memberships, if they truly cared for members they would be open about this review and seek views/feedback.......... we shall see how much we're valued

The all have slightly different priorities, but they all have a common goal: To stay alive.

I think this is the last throw of the dice for first class cricket, if they don't come together now then they are finished. The 16.4 was an ECB power grab, and I think the penny has dropped even with the most fervent 16.4 cultist.

It's an abusive relationship at the minute. Every inch the counties give to the ECB the ECB wait a bit and come back for more, this review is just the next step. The counties need to stop acting like an abused spouse and fight back. And I think supporters need to wise up and stop accepting it, it doesn't have to be this way.

The 16.4 grounds are secured up to 2024, after that there's no reason the counties can't stop this farce in it's tracks. No grounds, no competition. I think if they sign up again then it's over, I really do.

Test matches will be next, 4 day games are on their way.
Yes last throw of the dice for first class cricket but is that really the priority of all the counties. Certainty is for county members but not sure that is the case for quite a few counties sadly.

Bostock and North are big fans of the Hundred. Botham merely shrugs when The Hundred is mentioned and says its here to stay and then goes on to say he's in favour of the three division set up.

Looks like it's a Yes from Durham.

That review is as shite as I feared it would be. Strauss is a monumental prick for even thinking it up. It WILL end up killing several counties. Which I suspect was the idea all along.

There was a discussion on 5LiveSportsXtra at Lunch in the Championship games, referenced in this tweet:

Nailed on that Durham will vote to accept these proposals, I’ll be voting too……with my feet.

We’re not valued at all marra.

They need to rid themselves of the vanity project, but they will never admit to the mistake so they'll force it in no matter what

bcause there is nout we can do about it, or strauss

Yes there is. We can reject it. The counties can reject it. Cricket as a collective can reject it. If nobody goes, it’ll fail. It may take bankruptcy but we’ll get our game back eventually.
I

maybe not, but the calendar is already too complex like, they need to do something, I dunno what the answer is but some discussion needs to take place.

You’re in the minority then, because everyone else knows what it is - BIN THE 16.4 and immediately the problem vanishes.
Top class statement from Middlesex
Also good from Kent "“We will not allow our Club to be rendered irrelevant.”

Love it.

The problem with that is you know which counties will go bankrupt first. Then they will pull up the draw bridge.

On a different note how about county cricketers declining to play in the 100 staying with their counties.

Totally agree, I've said a lot about the communication within the club this year especially but as we know it has been shite for years.

North/Bostock very much for themselves and we all know how much interaction Franklin did with members, they had to be forced into that members forum a couple of months ago.

I've paid for next season so might as well make use of it. I do find it a tad convenient the club have sent out memberships and they are using the "community" as a selling/marketing point which did make me laugh with these lot in charge. Not forgetting the many members who allowed the club to keep the covid money

I said to @The Red Telephone that Durham have a lot of members who merely purchase memberships for the county championship, so I can't imagine they will be thrilled if it's reduced to the numbers mentioned... 20 days max of red ball cricket at home.

Durham vs Leicestershire in division 3 at the start of May ffs

Botham wanted the 100too

I saw that merely as ‘playing the game’ to keep Durham in the conversation when the talk of an expansion came around.

He’s also been very outspoken recently on the subject of preserving/protecting proper cricket.
