Steve Bruce

There has been many a post on here stating that Steve Bruce claims to have been sacked for being a Geordie .I really don't need to trawl through posts to find that as we all know it's been incorrectly attributed to him.
When I say he's known nothing other than sweetness and light I meant from a professional standpoint.Great success as player and captain of Man Utd and he has never been hounded by a current employers fans like he was here.Hes naturally going to cop a fair bit from likes of Man City and Liverpool due to his United links and imagine clubs he has left as a manager in an attempt to better himself are a little bitter towards him now as well but never while he was in charge and certainly not to extent he got here.
Tim Sherwood got booed.Huge difference between that and personal chants aimed at him mind.
As for this Ha ha thing how can you actually be quoted on that and even if he did have a wry smile so fuck.He got sacked in his opinion wrongfully and endured a load of abuse into the bargain. Trust me if that happened to me and I then went on to beat my ex employers 3 times they'd be getting a lot more than a chuckle aimed there way!
Fans only ever see it from there own blinkered point of view anybody who sways from that gets dogs abuse . Every pundit who predicts a sunderland defeat gets it on here, every media outlet that doesn't quite give us what the fans perceive to be adequate coverage in comparison to the big boys gets it for being biased, every referee who gives a dodgy call hates us and so on and so forth. This goes for every set of fans not just us by the way.
My point is that that Bruce has vented his spleen a little (not to the extent you'd think given comments on here) but so what? Given the chants and the numerous comments on here it only adds fuel to his argument that his roots became an issue.Ive said before if fans choose to dislike him because of his heritage that's fair enough just stop hiding behind this we aren't bothered about them they are obsessed with us persona because it's basically bollocks. We are equally as bad although not quite as delusional regarding expectation.

I did not and still don't have a dislike of Bruce for his roots, I felt he did an ok job for a while, but when we lost that home game against Wigan I felt that his time had run out. What has irritated me subsequently is the little digs that he always seems to have at us. It's no use saying he just answers the questions posed, because those asking know what his response will be and therefore ask in order to get a quote that will highlight the interview a little more than the average. He is still bitter about his sacking, he should just get over it and move on, every manager knows that the sack is an almost inevitable outcome of any appointment, sadly for Doubtfire he has always walked away, until he came here and that must rankle with him.

That was bang out of order and shows how vile SOME fans are and how Reid can say that part and parcel is beyond me. I'd have went fuckin off it.No way should that be accepted as the norm. If somebody comes up and gives you a right hander are you the bigger person for walking away?
Reid never had a personal chant sang by thousands aimed at him either.

He had a pint aimed at him. Sticks and stones.

The point that you appear to conveniently overlook is the hostility directed his way towards the end of
his tenure. People (not all) couldn't stand him.

Peter Reid took stick that was well out of order imo, he was a superb bloke for us in the main.
Steve Bruce actually seems like a decent fella, which makes it all the more annoying that he appears to delight in sticking the knife in to us.

In general, Bruce was given a very fair crack of the whip by us, as I have said before, he was a lucky lad when his own team f***ing pasted us, people kept belief in him.

He then contrived to dismantle a decent team, and wondered why the rot set in, on top of which he then took too much pleasure at having a dig.

Should have told us to bugger off ONCE if it would have helped his state of mind, and then kept it shut, most would then have thought nothing of it, he keeps picking at the sore.

He wants to get some weight off as well.

Son I've forgot more about sunderland than you'll ever know.Your obviously some fat wheezy kid who lives his life through others and never played any sport in his life. Clear as day!

Weren't you complaining about personal abuse a few posts ago?
Whenever I open a thread that you've contributed to you are being confrontational and abusive.
Bruce was sacked because of his results and the money he wasted on rubbish players. He refuses to admit he was to blamefor his own sacking and instead blames our fans.
A handful called him a fat G B and he uses that to explain away his sacking. While in charge he had the backing of the vast majority of our fans but he chooses to forget that. And you wonder why he is now despised.

It's also fair to say that Reidy had been with us a long time and taken us on a hell of a journey before his cards were marked, so naturally any abuse is going to be tempered by those few short glorious seasons.

I guess it was as much the frustration that we felt we could have gone on to even better things, it was as close as it was ever going to be, and we bottled it.

Murray was to blame for us not building on the two seventh places. Unfortunately Reid got the stick for it, but he's front of house so that will happen.
We shouldn't even speak of Reidy in the same breath as the useless Bruce, they were eons apart when it came to management ability.

I don't just aim it at somebody for sake of it though. This kid has had more than a few pops at me o various posts telling me to fuckoff etc so I feel vindicated in my comment.
As for personal abuse personally I don't give a fuck what anybody thinks of me.Can be as personal as you like however not everybody is that thick skinned as has been proving by somebody taking exception to me calling them "Bonny lad" whilst for his previous half dozen posts talked of how Bruce should just accept being called an FGB.
Unbelievable!

Reid done a better job here than Bruce however on the whole Bruce has been a better manager.

Forgot that he tried to use Newcastle's good start to the season as an excuse for the stick he was getting.:lol: Even for him, that is brilliant.

What a patronising fool you are.

It seems you feel so superior in having a different view point to virtually every Sunderland fan (and many non SAFC too) However there's a good reason you're virtually alone in your viewpoint. I don't think you'll work it out mind.

Murray made money available, Reid played Billy Big Bollocks at first refusing to pay the (highly inflated but market) going rate for a striker.

He then subsequently proceeded to spunk money away like a bairn in a ket shop. All with Murray's sanction admittedly but let's not rewrite the facts.

Nunez, Medina, Peeters etc all came in at a decent whack at that time and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Many SAFC fans yes certainly not many non ones though.
Don't think you'll quite work that one either.
The post which you are referring to as me being patronising was in response to an insult FYI.

Your (sic) on ignore now Steve. Drivel.

I'm based down in London moonbeem. Most of my mates are non SAFC. Majority of people can see Bruce for what he is, you for whatever reason can't.

Maybe you're not so bright after all eh kidda?

Absolutely. If anything, the fact that he was a supposed "Geordie" (he's actually a Northumbrian) probably meant that the fans in the ground bit their tongues a bit more as they didn't want to prove him right that the dislike was down to him being a boyhood Newcastle fan.

Did a decent job in his first 18 months, but once we sold Bent he completely undid a lot of the good work he did and lot all of the good will he had built up and his limitations as a manager were exposed pretty brutally. Like I said on another thread, if he'd been sacked at the end of the 2010-11 season as he probably should have been, would imagine that the vast majority of us would have wished him well and when he came back with another club, he'd have got a decent reception, but his constant pops at the fans in his last few months here is what brought about the dislike.

I work with supporters of I don't know how many teams and they regularly took the piss when he was in charge for us. He is one of those types that for whatever reason is universally disliked. Ask a Huddersfield, Sheffield Utd, Brum or Palace supporter what they think of him and 9 times out of 10 the answer won't be kind.
