Spirit of 37 - display v Newcastle

Big difference between upsetting the Saudi elites and the banner abusing an entire people.
Well its not "Abusing Arabs" is it. Its calling out the Saudi government.
I clearly should have said the Saudi Arabian government instead if the Arabs. I thought that was obvious .
I would be happy if they had a picture of Khashoggi , had his wife doing the half time draw and people going round with stones of various sizes to chuck at the mags but then again , I’ve not got a couple of billion pound assets to think of .

KLD’s donation has nothing to do with them stopping the display. They’d have stopped it regardless.

Spineless bastards.
Respect your opinion mate, I know how hard you work and you’re probably right - they would have stopped it regardless, but I’d also say he’s intentionally made a grand and conspicuous donation in order to curry favour/influence beyond being the owner of the club.

It’s certainly calculated.

This is really disappointing, never mind being more pro Sunderland it's a decision made purely because it upsets the business interests of our owner and if the club don't allow criticism of the Saudi government I'll never put another penny into the club until they've left.

The PIF wouldn't give a shit, water off a duck's back to them. They've already said they are fine with sportswashing.

Thats a good point to be fair. The banner is good but not strong enough..but of course anything stronger would have had even less of a chance.

Whats odd is KLD funding the banner. Was that so he felt he had more clout with the messaging? The whole thing stinks
It’s a stroke of genius when you think about it. He puts money in so he can say that he can’t be seen to support the message.

Sorry to say it but he’s had SO37’s pants down.

"The Saudi elites"
What's the view of the majority of the Saudis like? Acting like they're a suppressed people, where the majority probably back them.

Terrorist/homophobic/misogynist sympathisers those that come up with this sort of tripe

Some might say he made the donation to look good and then shit his pants when it might look like he was financing an anti saudi display.

It's easy enough to make an anonymous donation.
