Southampton spying compendium thread

Remember the "Coughing Major" who cheated to win the jackpot on "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"? You might have thought that it was just a matter of him being disqualified and not getting the prize money but he ended up in a criminal court and getting a (suspended) prison sentence.

There is a huge amount of money ( £200+ million) at stake here. If Southampton conspired to break the rules of the competition and went to some lengths to do so with the intent of obtaining an unfair advantage over the other competitors to get that money -that may well be considered to have been a criminal act. Cheating in sport for financial gain is punishable by law.

When the authorities realise that their was considerably more than just a football trophy to be won I think that they are going to look in to all this very closely. Perhaps they will wait and see what is turned up by the FA's investigation.
Some lot on here probably think he should have been given a fine. Say 200k. Just a bit of coughing man. 😂

Wonder how many of the bleating Southampton fans live in Basingstoke.

This punishment happens at every level, every year. This "Hull should be automatically promoted" is utter nonsense.

Swindon were removed from the EFL trophy this season and Luton reinstated.

It happened in the last 16 of the U16 schools trophy, it happened in the FA qualifiers to Guernsey, it will have happened in ever Sunday county cup in the country.

And that was a genuine error and accepted as one.
Incompetence.

Going back to 1990 it was recognised throughout football at that time that this was happening. Swindon got caught and made an example of.
Doesn’t make it right though.

Like speeding. Most of us have done it and not been caught.

Yes, I certainly do and would accept that I 'condemned' him without fully knowing the facts on this.
Also, to his credit, I believe he was part of the 'whistle blowing' and spoke out about him being pressured into acting the way he did.
If that's the case then good on the lad - not accepting their 'lone wolf' crap that they spouted in an attempt to hang the lad out to dry.
Done a real number on him haven't they the shithouses.

Anyway, best of luck tomorrow.

Didn't take the panel long to decide on the appeal either

Every home match day, I drive through the 50mph speed restrictions from Hutton Henry to Hawthorn Services.

I'm the only one keeping to the limit 🤣

Maybe you should sue Southampton
Now, there's an idea !!!
😁
Hadn't looked obviously - what was it like booking trains/hotels last minute for Boro fans?

Was travel subsidised at all by the club? Must be an even more expensive than usual weekend for those booking very last minute?
Sold out according to MFC website.
I know there's no trains between Northallerton and York so a lot are driving down.

As mentioned in another post (on this thread), I'm not going - I arranged summat else after the semi final (and it's important and people are relying on me) so that's that 😭.

Thank you 👍.
Thing is, if Hull beat us tomorrow then that'll be fine by me - after all this I'm just happy to see that us (Boro) reporting this to the authorities and their cheating being blown wide open is great for the game.

I'd accept a jammy win though
😜
Yeh good luck tomorrow mate, I have no axe to grind against Boro.

Would like to see you back in Prem

Would like it even more to see us both finishing higher than the arrogant skunks next season

Of course us finishing highest

Yet who is best placed to know the level of advantage gained from spying on training sessions .
Footballers or lawyers
The level of advantage is (and has to be) irrelevant.
They tried to cheat their way into the play off final (and possibly the play offs in the first place).
No point having a rule if the consequences of breaking it get 'watered down' for whatever reason.

Cheat and lie about it - out.
