Southampton spying compendium thread

It will be interesting to see if the owners of Southampton do an internal investigation as surely if they weren’t in on it then they would absolutely want to know who sanctioned this. If it’s the owners then are they fit for purpose,,,if it’s not the owners then whoever it was needs to be held accountable.

I’m hearing the Sporting Director is in trouble

I don't think we've seen the last of the repercussions from Southampton's cheating.
Definitely not, all the other clubs will be going through their training ground CCTV hard drives and looking for spies.

The authorities will open a big inquiry, southampton analysis staff will be brought in for interviews and may be offered immunity from bans if they tell the full extent of the spying. Ringleaders will be banned.

Southampton could yet be thrown out of the league, I think 1 point deducted for every game they spied upon should be the minimum. If they've done it for practically every game then they've ruined the entire season, particularly for the likes of Wrexham and Derby.

Lawsuits for lost earnings will rain down upon them too.

Most CCTV is overwritten every month if not a shorter period. The evidence if there was any will be long gone.

I am not inclined to believe anyone from Southampton FC after what has gone on.

For a start I think all this fake outrage from the players is to try and convince the football community they knew nothing about it.

So when Eckert says to his players:

“Right lads when Morris takes a corner if he raises both hands he is looking to drop the ball on the corner of the six yard box. Ayling will make a late run from the penalty spot to that point. Ross, you can steer clear initially but make sure you pick him up at the corner of the six yard box.”

At this point either the players think their manager is clairvoyant or they are in on it.

It's not ridiculous. They tried to cheat by spying and their opponents tactics less then 72 hours before the game. They have done it before. Glad they were kicked out.

Yet most of the pundits who are ex players and managers say in their opinion it is out of proportion

The mocking gesture with binoculars gave it away IMO. He forgot that at Boro, they didn't use them. But did use them for the other spygate operations.

They were impressed with how detailed the opposition research was and how easy it made things, of course they knew

Rather have seen Hull vs whoever finished 18th in the Prem.

Boro have already lost. Their player missing a sitter and getting them a good advantage had nothing to do with a bloke stood next to a tree. The lost over two legs.

Feel sorry for Hull. Boro have been able to prepare for Hull since resuming training.

Whereas Hull, the only side that has done nothing wrong and actually qualified by winning have been in limbo, preparing for a final without knowing who they’d be playing.
Exactly what have Boro done wrong?
