Southampton spying compendium thread

They need to let the playoff go ahead as they did at the Swindon v Sunderland promotion playoff at Wembley many years ago. ( I was there ) and we lost to Swindon but I remember as we boarded the Coaches back to Sunderland we had a TAX INSPECTORs Sign in the bus window while passing the nearby Swindon coaches.

Everybody knew what we were on about as it was public knowledge. Swindon were denied promotion . Sunderland went up.

The best bit though was that the Mags finished above Sunderland that season but didnt make the final so Sunderland got promoted..

But that doesn’t help the team that was wronged. I think they need to disqualify Southampton and give Boro a bye to the final. Means whoever finished 7th will be a bit miffed mind.

Nowt at all to do with getting the tears in to help the investigation. Blokes a fanny.
Oh yes the 'panel' are really going to use a managers comments in a press conference as evidence. 😂.
He doesn't need to use tears to 'help' the investigation - the bloke was asked about it and gave an honest answer, as opposed to walking out.

Someone sounds rather bitter.

Issue is there could be many teams wronged. I highly doubt this is the first time theyve done it. They've got brazen from not being caught over last few months id guess

I’d play a one off milwall v boro at a neutral venue to see who gets to Wembley to play Hull.
Fuck all these byes and what have you. Mind again every one that missed out on a play off spot will rightly be cheesed off. What a mess.
Boro being shit and looking leggy now to do with a bloke spying

Even though it was before first leg only, when they were the better team
Did a full on Newcastle. Busted their flush early on with a high intensity press etc and had Jack shit left for the last 70+ minutes other night

Boro have been wronged -no doubt ànd “ Saints “ have admitted that
Hull fans are seemingly forgotten in this though -many will already have made arrangements-final needs to be kept as is -not come out with “subject to change “ now
But what are the EFL/panel meant to do?
There's a rule in place which appears to have been broken - surely they can't be expected to brush it under the carpet so as not to inconvenience anybody.
Yes it's unfortunate, but I don't see how the EFL, the panel or Boro can be held responsible for any of that.
Having an enquiry over something as potentially serious as this is bound to take some time.
Bitter about what? :lol::lol:

Oh how i wish we had Boro's squad
Oh dear

I really can’t see Southampton being chucked out of the play offs. I suspect they will get a whacking fine, and maybe even a suspended points deduction, but the EFL will be hugely concerned about legal action.

The EFL will be desperate for Hull to win next week

The rule has been broken, Southampton will get punished in some way. There's nowt in the rules about the affected party getting helped.

Rules are broken in every game, when a player gets sent off retrospectively, it never helps the team wronged. Boro can sue Southampton.

There's very little evidence to show that Boro were materially affected by the rule break either. They dominated the 1st leg game and missed a hatful of easy chances through their own performance and didn't score. 2nd leg is irrelevant to the rule break.

I'm even more convinced that Southampton will play in the Final, once the legal eagles get round it all.

Not true. Hull are currently preparing their tactics based on Southampton. This could hinder their preparation.

Southampton beat Boro so Boro don't deserve to be in the final. Southampton don't deserve to be in the final because they cheated. Hull should be promoted automatically but of course money talks and all that sponsorship and viewing money needs to be gobbled up.
I’m sorry mate but I don’t agree with that. Southampton cheat Boro so Hull should get a free ride into the premier league= plain daft.

Your first point maybe has some validity. Although to exaggerate the point to make it, if Sunderland were due to play PSG in a tournament, and then found out we were playing Wolves instead, would that be considered a hindrance?

No.

What level of fine would be appropriate, given that the final is billed sa the richest game in world football ? Reckon its worth £200 million to the winners.

Could the EFL dock points from what would be a PL team if Soton win ?

Whilst I agree -Hull and their fans should be important too ( seemingly not ?)
Hull qualified correctly-fans no doubt already made arrangements -booked tickets -some will even fly in for this so for me ( means nowt I know !) the play off date should not be changed regardless -fans should not be punished especially those of Hull .

How much of an impact would it really have?

Players could get injured, they might be practicing plan c, you are watching the match they beating you to it change it up
