Southampton spying compendium thread

Assuming there's VAR in the final, there's no chance whatsoever that any of the less obvious decisions will go Southampton's way. The EFL will want to keep them down. Then kill them.

So you could say Boro trying to find evidence that they'd spied on other teams could harm their chances, prove that it wasn't just them impacted and then the league can say well others have been so we'll follow the earlier "Swindon" precedent.
I think it gets too complicated, cheating for a playoff game has an obvious victim. By all means do a points deduction for spying on others.

I reckon at least a quarter of the league will be taking it to the courts if their games against Bereh are essentially voided

Doesn't matter .Southampton allegedly broke the rules throughout the season
The cleanest way is to allow final to proceed ,then if Hull lose , make the decision a week later . Say the punishment is for irregularities throughout the season.
That’s probably the messiest it could get, you’ll then have boro and Southampton wanting to sue and hull would have a week less in what’s already the hardest position for next season. Play off winners are already 2 weeks behind the other 2 in preparations for the premier league your vision makes it 3 and a court case hanging over it all.

It needs to be solved in the next day or 2 and for me if Southampton are guilty they are kicked out deducted points next season and boro in the final.

If theres so much evidence why have other teams said nowt till now?
not that anyone has seen the footage but could just be security made a log of a dodgy looking ‘fan’ around the training ground but nobody thought anything of it until boro spoke out then once they’ve gone back looked at cctv it’s a bit more than a weirdo fan wanting to watch training.

I imagine Sunderland security make a couple of logs but it’s just some old bloke with a dog on a a genuine dog walk.

Southampton cheated and shouted be kicked out. But what this thread has proved is the indifference we all show towards Boro. Most of us would be happy for Boro to get some justice because us as Sunderland fans don't really care either way. If it had been the mags every single poster on this thread would have been on the side of Southampton.
I want Boro to go up. Not bothered how much some of them hate us, I don't mind them at all.

@Bg86

The moment Watson slotted.

I shouldn't laugh but it's an absolute thread of beauty from that point forward.

Leeds promoted.
Us promoted.
Wilder doing his best to get us promoted.
Carrick sideways passing their into mid table obscurity.
It must have been an awful end to their season.

"at least we have Hull next season"

Oh well...

On a lighter note hopefully the EFL will grow a pair and boot Southampton out of the play offs and give Boro their place in the final.

Read somewhere, that Gibson doesn't think they'll get Southampton booted out but will look for compensation, And as the EFL inserted a rule after the Marcelo Bielsa business about clubs spying on each other, the fine will run into millions,

Sheffield United rinsed West Ham for about 20m after the Tevez business

You’ve had 46 games to observe them. Of course it doesn’t
Well more fool them but somebody obviously thought it was beneficial enough to take the risk because it seems they did it.

They went to observe with the intent of gaining an advantage or else why bother. If they were too stupid to weight up the potential risk vs reward of their actions that's on them, and its not really much of a defence to say we didn't get any useful footage

Deserve chucking out the final.

Boro vs Hull such a better game.

Would like Hull up, proper club.

Whatever action is taken ,there will be legal challenges . My way there is legal precedent set, which always helps in legal cases.
Surely if Hull beat Southampton at Wembley , Southampton will have achieved nothing and can still be slapped with a heavy fine or point deduction next season .
If Southampton win , promotion can be taken away from them as punishment and any other sanction the EFL think necessary.
After all the other teams involved in the playoffs , will ask why Middlesboro, who were beaten on the day , should have another chance to win a final they didn't qualify for.
Going to be very messy, whatever action is taken .
