Southampton spying compendium thread

I totally get that, put play off back 2 weeks, problem solved.
Being the promoted side is already the hardest spot in the Premier League, this just makes it 2 weeks harder, then players who are going to the world cup are given 2 less weeks off. Then you add in the economical side of it and the fact you need to change location as Wembley has plans. Really this is the best outcome, Southampton cheated atleast 3 times they deserve more than they currently are getting imho, I dont for a second believe it wasnt more than 3.

See post 4591. As I said, AFAIK (not made up, it was online or in the media yesterday - I forget) SFC agreed the abridged process. Anything else you want to argue about?

I don’t know why you are getting so angry with me I’m simply saying in my legal perspective what Southampton look to be setting up for  Which appears to be a claim that the process itself was unfair and the next legal step to that would be to try and obtain an injunction to stop the final going ahead using Section 33 of the Arbitration Act to bring the claim.

I have no idea how strong a case they think they would have or what the long term objective of doing it would be (Apart from seeking a new hearing and perhaps hoping more time could give them new evidence… no idea).

But that’s likely their only further recourse. And prima facie whilst the EFL can amend timelines I’ll come back to the crutch of Section 33 which is they still have to successfully defend whatever exceptions they did were fair. I suspect that Southampton will argue reducing a 14 day period down to a less then 24 hours and expecting them to file an appeal without the full written summary from the initial arbitration award (Essentially offering then an appeal without the reasoning for the original decision) is unfair.

If you don’t take it from me that’s likely where this is going look at the tweet from the Southampton Echo journo last night who is probably the closest to the club out of everyone saying they will appeal also the process.

I’ve said all along I think they should be kicked out so I’m not defending them at all here.

If they didn’t think they could then why did they bother? They have admitted to 2 other cases of it ( we all know there was more) so if they got nothing from those 2 that was helpful to them then why bother sending someone to boro to do it?
I'm not saying they didn't think they could. I just think it's absurd they felt they had to resort to that.

They didn't need to risk having anyone caught spying at the training ground, when they could've easily captured video evidence of Boro's training session, using a drone.
Think you'd need prior permission to fly a drone there due to its proximity to the airport, so doubt they'd be (legally) able to.

Can't stand any cheating, match fixing or similar in any sports. I don't understand why you would, you're only fooling yourself.

Honest question without them spying did you have confidence in you winning.

I mean your form has been below par for a while.
Honest answer is I genuinely thought it could go either way.
Our form had picked up (we scored 5 against Watford) and we do play well on the whole, we just seem to struggle to break teams down, so I did at least think Southampton would be a more open game , giving us more chances - and we beat them 4-0 earlier in the season too.
Always had a nagging feeling though that Finn Azaz was going to end up scoring the deciding goal - that would be typical Boro.

Supposedly there was no rule against this when leeds done it so they got off lightly on a charge of unsporting behaviour.
They brought in a rule on the back of the leeds incident to stop it hapeening , yet soton still did it.

Yes, they were/are hoping for the first offense, verbal warning.

It's quite interesting that the only other clubs to have come forward are Ipswich and Oxford - two clubs that won't be in The Championship next season.

Could there be some sort of reason, or conspiracy surrounding that?

^THIS has been pointed out by many neutral YouTubers when the news broke.

It is indeed suspicious.

Of all the clubs, Wrexham has the most video footage. I was wondering why they don't come forward.
Saving it for a dramatic spygate episode of "Welcome to Wrexham"?

I’ve no wish to fall out either but you’ve consistently had pointed out to you by me and others errors in your reading of EFL regulations and you don’t acknowledge them. The EFL have to get the game away on Saturday. If you think they don’t or if you think shortening the timetable is nevertheless unreasonable, I’d invite you again to post your thoughts why

Any form of spying on an opponent is illegal, whether that involves putting a drone up in the sky, above your opponents training ground, or having an employee of the club, hiding in the bushes, so they (Southampton) certainly wouldn't have sought any permission to fly a drone at Hurworth, though they might well have got away with it, as most people would've probably thought the drone was being flown by local kids.
