Southampton spying compendium thread

If they did this many times, the distance/angles etc. may have ranged from excellent to poor. Their players are on the record in interviews about how well their new manager does pre-match preparations with uncanny details about the opponents ...
Well if that's the case, throw the book at the lot of them.

I just find the whole situation absurd, and it's of Southampton's own making.

We don’t know if they agreed the process or not. We also don’t know if or if not what they agreed to included any abridged timeline for an appeal. The EFL don’t need them to agree to it anyway. However they would need to in future defend whatever exceptions they adopted still allowed Southampton to have a fair process. As I say I think for the appeal phase Southampton may well feel they have a case that it wasn’t fair.
See post 4591. As I said, AFAIK (not made up, it was online or in the media yesterday - I forget) SFC agreed the abridged process. Anything else you want to argue about?

I can't believe people are saying the punishment doesn't fit the crime, when kicking them out of the play offs is the only punishment that would work. How can you fine a team 200k or even 200m when they may end up getting 250m as an award for promotion? The only fine that would work in that instance would be a 250m+ fine, any other punishment and they have been rewarded for cheating.

Aye, that was in the Athletic this morning.
Like NTT20 said, if you field an ineligible player you’re likely chucked out. Same can be said for many sports.

Look at this statement.

"We're guilty but it's unfair that we were basically fined £250m".

Genuinely mental that their argument is that we should be allowed to go up and then only be rewarded £249,800,000.
It’s insane that statement. Just read it. Talk about how they know it was wrong, admit their guilt , want to be involved in making things better going forward etc etc. Then say it’s not fair because it might cost them 200m. Aye but you only have the chance because of your cheating you absolute rats

I get what you're saying and understand the "just following orders" mantra. Just doesn't sit well with me he'll likely lose his job and get a load of personal shite off the back of it. Sadly and most likely trying to impress the people and club he's desperate to get a full-time job with - if the talk of him being an intern are true!

Cracking AI video of him being whalloped with a parmo though. I can get behind that
Aye well, regardless of the ins and outs of it all, I wouldn't condone any personal shite directed at him.

I've not seen the AI video 🙂

The punishment is similar and comparable to that imposed on Swindon Town in 1990.
