Yeah that is the big downside of a pitch right next to the sea.

The Gypsy green site is prime real estate. It would be wasted on a football ground. They try to sell it off to a hotel group a few year back.
 
My old dad would have loved to have seen the mariners in a proper new ground. He was a regular, even designed the away kit one year.

Never heard that. That means the cricket club ( who actually ground it actually is) will need the council to give them a new ground too ??????.

Westoe rugby is moving because they have aspirations to grow.

Which means, when the Rugby club move from Westoe to the Brinkburn site, the football club will move back into the Westoe site vacated by the Rugby players.

Wash yer mooth oot! I feel sorry for you if you see a place as just a place to build things on. Do you not think that it just may be home to many people? Do you not see that it may well actually mean something to people? It has been the home to South Shields Harriers & AC for years. Certainly since well before I was a child and I remember going in the md-80's before I returned in 2009 to write the clubs newsletter which will be 50 issues old next month. It can't be built on ever.

I wonder what the council think of it? I wouldn't hold your breath to expect something positive. They don't give a shit about South Shields Harriers and they probably therefore don't give a shit about South Shields FC.

The council want to develop the site. They see £ signs. Thats why they will not give it over to a football team.

I appreciate your passion but money talks and Gypsys Green is an eyesore and Shields is being redeveloped. The Harriers will be relocated.
