filtrona was a bit out of the way so something closer to town would be nice
temple park ?

dont think they would do bents park would spoil the front imo

gypsies green maybe as its slightly more secluded and half hidden

cleadon ?

The guy said he has been sworn to secrecy by the council it will cause a stir if it comes out now.

A said that they should do gypsies green up. But he didn't say anything.

There might be problems with the hight of the ground.

He is a canny guy and shields deserve the bit of luck they have got so a wasn't going to push him for more clues.

The way it's looking at the moment, gypsies green is a very apt name

i just hope it happens-- i used to go to simonside hall in the late 60's early 70's
some of the teams i saw play there are well up the football league now- even wigan played shields there

Me to and if its in a good place more fans will go.

Gypsies green would be the obvious choice. Improve the fence and hoy up a small stand and it would not be far away from what is needed in the Northern League. I think it already has floodlights although they may not be up to scratch.

I'm sure the field in the middle isn't big enough for adult football, so they'd need to extend that for starters.

What about The Jack Clark Park ? They should kick Marsden CC off it and return to their old stomping ground.

I lived there until recently and they'd literally levelled the old dog track.

If you turned the garden over you could see the old foundations just below the surface on the Horsley Hill Rd side of the ground (the old green wooden stand)

Used to gan occasionally to Simonside in early 70's too. I remember them having games on sundays when that first came in and to get in you had to buy a team sheet as they werent allowed to charge admission under the sunday trading laws :-) ....... or you could do like most of us and just climb ower the wall nearest the houses!

I remember seeing Stanley Matthews at Simonside Hall.

I really enjoyed going to see the likes of Bert Garrow, Len Smith, Gerry Donaghue, Bobby Ellwell and Bob McLeod and then the next generation - Malcolm Leask, Bobby O'Donnell and Gerry Coyne.

I still consider the council's decision to allow housing development on the site as the biggest cultural betrayal of the town.

Finally demolish Temple Park Junior school and built it there.

Just round the corner from me. Would be canny.

I just hope they get sorted with something. It would be good for the town and I imagine more people would go to watch them, especially if it was down the sea front somehow.

we used to sell spuggy's tickets at school for tuppence- this allowed you to climb over the school gates- run over the field-climb the wall and let one of the old blokes chase you around the ground till he got tired and gave up :-)

corruption at it's finest

Peterlee next year and return to new Stadium in Shields the year after according to the Gazette.

Fantastic news if it comes off, allows them to stay in Northern League.

Peterlee newtown?
I played 1 game for them when I was younger, scored 2 goals and won a penalty (the captain took it) never got picked for them again, warmed the bench for 3 games straight. So I sacked it off and the next season played for Haswell.

My reasoning exactly

Wouldn't Jarra or Hebburn have been nearer for a groundshare?

Already two Hebburn clubs play at the sports club so one of the pitches is in use every Saturday and can't have two games played simultaneously.

They approached Boldon CA and nearly reached an agreement but then Jarrow Roofing Boldon CA kicked off and threw a last-minute spanner in the works. Cue lots of unhappy people on both sides.

Don't believe Jarrow's ground is up to scratch.

How they going to organise a new stadium within a year?
They could play at Westoe rugby club.

Isn't there some agreement that temple park had to remain a sports venue. With the new swimming pool opening on the seafront it could make sense. However I'd love to see gypsies green revamped. Mind I've played on the fields opposite and the wind is f***ing horrific
