SOL expansion

Aye but the revenue helps PSR. The cost doesn’t have a detrimental effect.
True it’s also worth pointing out that we have no idea how much it would cost to do we’re plucking a figure of £50m out of thin air it might not cost that much
decided to ask AI

I think the difference today is that we have a brilliant structure at the club. Providing the club keep hold of the current, or majority of back room staff I definitely believe that we are on an upward trajectory. This being said sooner or later the stadium will need to be expanded and that’ll be both the south and east stands the knars

the plans submitted are the old approved plans from 2005.....these expire after 3 years so the whole process to validate then go through the approval process again has to be done, however the plans are a mirror image of the north and you can see off the cgi pictures (in the objection) that the plan is different design so these will have a complete variation to them by whoever the have to deign the south stand......they have acted to get the plans hurried through because of the sheepfolds site getting built up - Because of that you can confidently say that there are no new plans drawn up yet

Apologies. My planning terminology may be incorrect here.

In the statement attached to the objection and the new drawings, there is reference to a public plaza in front of the south stand and there’s also description of the stand designs.

Take your point that this would have been hastily put together to get the objection in

Can't help but feel some people who are so passionately and vehemently against any expansion aren't being entirely sincere.

The SoL has been "theirs" for a quarter of a century and any new breeds and generations aren't welcome to share "their" space

Traditional north east communities are resistant to change and (as i have said before) sunderland is an insular city

Tourists, part timers and EPL fans frighten their sense of self and place in the "hardcore"

Roker crowds exhibited these traits

I believe we're a very welcoming city..look at the number of immigrants in the city. The rugby saw thousands come in and the very few tourists we get are most welcome......

Mags on the other hand.......

I thought the expansion was about 'increasing hospitality'. Now I'm reading about single tier home ends which obviously wouldn't allow for much hospitality space  which one is it then?

I think it’s what some are hoping for and couldn’t give a shite about hospitality tbf.

But yeah I’d imagine the bean counters at SAFC would prefer to offer a mix of additional capacity as well as increase the offering of hospitality and bring in more money.

It wont be a single tier thats for sure...it will be built (if it ever is )with corporate facilities as the driver and extra seating will always be secondary ( i note on the recent drawings it states 5000+seats whereas the original plans were for 7500 so i guess thats because of the better corporate facilities ?.That said the corporate stuff would cost multi millions and it would be idiotic not to put in extra seats as it would be a small part of the cost of the build !

we'll need a mexican section next season
Certain elements of the south stand will welcome with open arms

Last time we were in the premier league we were consistently 15-20 percent under capacity. It’s great we aren’t this year but once that novelty wears off for the fair weather fans it will dip again. There’s a core of around 35,000 fans who will be there almost no matter what but the rest of our fans rely on novelty to go, whether it’s a derby, a playoff final or our first season back for a while. They won’t hang around when things get tough and they’ve proven that for decades

Think that was across the board though. Seem to recall Arsenal always having around 10,000 empty seats, mags under Bruce were 5,000 under capacity.

Since covid it seems demand for football has increased massively. Fulham, Liverpool, Everton, Man City to name a few have all extended or rebuilt.

Extending now has absolutely no negative consequences.

Never ever ever did I think Sunderland was in the position to be a successful premier league club , there was never any trust between owners/players / fans, in my 20 years of going to SOL! Genuinely believe our foundations are as strong as ever , and believe in KLD! Everything he has said he has done it ! The fact that he is trying to block the council building homes there, means he is definitely got plans to develop/extend the stadium or surrounding areas! And for people who worry about empty seats , get off the titty man! Enjoy the buzzzz

Need to become a consistent Premier League team first imo, that should be the first focus, not extending stadiums. By all means get the plans ready so they're shovel ready but nows not the time to use the shovel imo. Basically what Fulham done really.

What we don't want to do is a Luton and spunk loads of money on a new stadium and blow the parchute money on extending the ground for it to be empty anyway.
