SOL expansion

We are nothing like Luton ffs

Never said we were?

Just building extensions when we could easily get relegated, is just stupid, as if we don't get back up straight away all the good stuff we've done with finances are well out the window. That should be top priority, not hypothetical extensions for a crowd that might not exist.

The way some are going on here you'd think we were already safe.

Aim for the stars and you might just land on the moon!!!

Not really a question of safety I think, extending our ground would cost peanuts compared to other clubs extending theirs.

Plus, it could potentially repay itself very quickly.

I agreed wholeheartedly with the 2000 North Stand extension but whilst I am sure we could currently fill a bigger stadium, our immediate future in the PL is uncertain unlike the time of the previous expansion, and after the massive strides since Donald & Methven departed our priority must be consolidation. I will celebrate if we finish seventeenth and would still consider that a remarkable achievement.

Need to become a consistent Premier League team first imo, that should be the first focus, not extending stadiums. By all means get the plans ready so they're shovel ready but nows not the time to use the shovel imo. Basically what Fulham done really.

What we don't want to do is a Luton and spunk loads of money on a new stadium and blow the parchute money on extending the ground for it to be empty anyway.
The cost could be less than one decent Premier League defender.
If we survive this season that is an incredibly low "risk".

Expansion could be part of consolidation. One season of sell outs probably gives us room to add two top flight salaries to the books without any PSR consequences.

I was skeptical about capacity increase even just a few months back but seeing the level of ambition shown by the board and the speed of sell outs for our first three fixtures, there’s definitely room for increasing both regular seats and corporate.

In a way, the club going public with the objections to the sheepfolds plans creates a level of expectation that it is done as well. People will support the club over local authority every day of the week and twice on Sundays but it comes with an understanding that it happens.

But when we bought them we didn't know where they would be.
As long as they move them and give them a new place why does it matter?
Because it’s about location and some people won the lottery on location and some people pay a visit to a loved one careful how you handle this subject…

I get that but they can still go and see the original brick
Just in a different location
I have one, my mam bought me it.
If it moved because we expanded then that's ok as long as i know where it is.
Surely nobody would want to stop an extension because of a brick in a specific location
Surely the brick itself is the emotional attachment

The bricks need to be communicated to everyone where & when this transition will happen and try to keep the same location and height to new locations

But surely the cost wouldn’t change much in one season.
I agree with the slowly slowly catchee monkey approach
Lot of euphoria and unbridled optimism following promotion and our 6 point haul, but a long way to go
See many on here bemoaning empty seats in c’ship and how bad it looks TV wise
Dont wish to sound like a grim reaper but surely waiting a season or 2 when we have a better idea of how we are traveling makes more sense

A number of us have already had bricks moved. It’s a minor issue in my opinion. There will be thousands of brick owners who have passed away over the years. The ground can’t become some sort of wailing wall at the expense of progress.

And the cost can be paid off over a much longer time than for a player. If it’s a private loan for an equity share then it doesn’t cost anything until the club is sold and would have no negative financial impact at all.

Totally agree, both my parents have bricks and have died but if their moving is due to a stadium extension I know they’d be all for it.
