SOL expansion

I've never once said we'll be like Manchester United or Liverpool. We'll see an increase in fans who will attend random matches but not all matches.
There is huge potential for increased attendance once/when stadium capacity is increased
I have mentioned before at the playoff final the scenes of packed pubs and clubs in and around Sunderland watching and celebrating the game shows the latent potential for much higher attendance once capacity increases, build it and they will come. HTL

The new scoreboards rule out a South Stand extension then?

Not seen any pics of a new scoreboard in the Southstand mate?

That dosent mean there won’t be, but last I heard it was a bigger job putting a big screen having from stand that it is on top of stand like in North Stand.

There’s nothing on Google saying that any plans have been scuppered at all. There’s an interview with Bob Murray bloviating and the club expressing concerns about plans and therefore subsequent hastily put together expansion plans (coupled with assurances from the LA chief exec that the club won’t be impeded by the council). That’s it.

The council have done a hell of a lot to actually make the club (and city) better. From the footbridge to implementation of 5G.
I disagree

It's the concerts of 50k plus that is targeted. We've lost a few due to the capacity

Sheepfolds development will force their hand on the south stand first
Think south stand is a sensible first step anyway. Plus how bloody weird would the ground look with massive stands all round then just a tiny south stand stuck on one end

We don't know. Conventional wisdom on this board was keep it cheap ("should be a tenner") but tickets costing 43 for Bournemouth and Brentford going instantly. Tickets at 149 going.

So we don't know tbh.

Cheap tickets don’t work tbh. We saw that under Short.

The reality is; if we are in the PL and we are competitive, people will pay good money.

Re: the extension. I suspect the club will push ahead with the redevelopment of the East Stand as that is more cosmetic rather than a big capacity increase (although we might see an increase of say 3000, the majority of those seats will be corporates).

If, however, we establish ourselves over the next 2-3 seasons, that is when you will see the extra tier going on the south stand and an extra 6000 seats.

The talked about work to the East Stand is more cosmetic mate so shouldn’t take that long to complete.

I know Bob broke rank earlier in the year but the Sheepfolds stuff won’t have an impact on the clubs long term plans.
